As-Saffat Verse 125

Do you call upon ˹the idol of˺ Ba’l and abandon the Best of Creators—

Do you call upon Ba‘l and ignore the Best of the Creators,

Do you call on Baal, and abandon the Best of creators?

How can you invoke Baal and forsake the Most Gracious Creator,

Call ye upon Bal and forsake the Best of creators.

"Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,-

Do you call upon Baal and forsake the Best of the Creators?

Would you call on Baal and leave the best of creators,

“What! You worship Baal (an idol) and leave the Best Creator?” –

Do you invoke Baal and abandon the best of creators,

"Will you continue to invoke Ba‘l (as deity) and forsake the Creator Who creates everything in the best and most appropriate form and has the ultimate rank of creativity –

`Do you call upon Ba`l (- the sun-god), and forsake the Best Creator,

Do you call an idol statue/master , and you leave the creator`s best ?

“What! You worship Baal (an idol) and leave the Best Creator?” -

"What! Do you call upon Baal and forsake the best of Creators,

"Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,

When he said to his people: Will you not guard against evil?

What! do you call upon Ba'l and forsake the best of the creators,

Will ye cry unto Baal and forsake the Best of creators,

Do you worship Ba`al and abandon the Best Creator.

Do you call on Ba'lan (the idol Baal) and abandon the Best Creator,

"Will you call upon `Ba`l and forsake the Best of creators,

Do you call on Baal and abandon the Best of Creators,

Do you call on Baal, and forsake the Best of creators?

Do you call on Baal -- this was the name of an idol of theirs which was made of gold, from which the name of their city derives, with the addition of [the suffix] bak -- that is to say, do you worship him, and abandon the Best of Creators, and not worship Him,

Will you call upon Ba`l and forsake the Best of creators,

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, Mujahid, Ikrimah, Qatadah and As-Suddi said that;

the word Ba`l means lord.

Ikrimah and Qatadah said, "This is the language of the people of Yemen."

According to another report from Qatadah, it is the language of Azd Shanu'ah.

Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam narrated from his father that;

it is the name of an idol which was worshipped by the people of a city called Ba`labak (Baalbek) which is to the west of Damascus.

Ad-Dahhak said,

"It is an idol which they used to worship."

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلً
(Will you call upon Ba`l).

means, `will you worship an idol,'

وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ

وَاللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ابَايِكُمُ الاْاَوَّلِينَ
