As-Saffat Verse 94

Later, his people came rushing towards him ˹furiously˺.

Then his people came rushing towards him.

Then came the others to him hastening.

His people hurried towards him,

Then they advanced toward him, hastening.

Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him).

whereupon people came to him running.

So the people descended upon him.

So the disbelievers came running towards him.

They came running towards him.

Then, the other people headed towards him hurriedly.

(Hearing this news) the people came running to him.

So they (his nation) approached/came to him hurrying/hastening.

So the disbelievers came running towards him.

So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening.

Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening.

So he turned upon them, smiting with the right hand.

So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening.

And (his people) came toward him, hastening.

Thereupon the people came running to him.

Thereafter they (the people) came to him in haste.

Then they came hastily towards him.

His people came rushing towards him,

And they came running towards him.

So they came running towards him, walking hurriedly, and they said to him, `We worship them while you smash them?!'

Then they came hastily towards him.

Mujahid and others said,

"This means, they came rushing."

The story is told in brief here; in Surah Al-Anbiya', it is told in more detail. When they returned, they did not know at first who had done this, until they investigated and found out that Ibrahim, peace be upon him, was the one who had done it. When they came to rebuke him, he started rebuking and criticizing them and said;

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
