waātaynāhum
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُم
And We gave them
mina
مِّنَ
of
l-āyāti
ٱلْءَايَٰتِ
the Signs
مَا
that
fīhi
فِيهِ
in it
balāon
بَلَٰٓؤٌا۟
(was) a trial
mubīnun
مُّبِينٌ
clear.

Wa aatainaahum minal aayaati maa feehi balaaa'um mubeen

Sahih International:

And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial.

23 Tafsir jalalayn

And We gave them signs in which there was a manifest trial, an obvious grace, such as the parting of the sea, [the sending down of] manna and quails and other such [signs].

24 Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَاتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الاْايَاتِ

And granted them signs,

means clear proofs and extraordinary evidence.

مَا فِيهِ بَلَاء مُّبِينٌ



in which there was a plain trial.

means, an obvious test to show who would be guided by it
