An-Najm Verse 60

laughing ˹at it˺ and not weeping ˹in awe˺,

and you laugh [at it] and not weep,

and do you laugh, and do you not weep,

Why do you laugh instead of weeping?

And laugh and not weep?

And will ye laugh and not weep,-

Will you laugh at it rather than weep?

And keep laughing and do not weep,

And you laugh, and do not weep!

and laugh and not weep,

And do you laugh and not weep (in consideration of your recalcitrance and sinfulness),

(For on hearing the mention of the Hour of punishment) you laugh rather than weep.

And you laugh/wonder, and you do not weep

And you laugh, and do not weep!

And will you laugh and not weep

And you laugh at it and weep not,

Which, then, of thy Lord’s benefits wilt thou dispute?

And will you laugh and not weep?

And laugh and not weep,

and do they laugh instead of weeping,

Or do you laugh, and do you not weep

And you laugh at it and weep not,

Why do you laugh rather than weep?

And laugh, and do not weep?

and laugh, mockingly, and not weep, when you hear its Promise and Threat,

And you laugh at it and weep not,

وَتَضْحَكُونَ
(And you laugh) in jest and mock at it,

وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
(and weep not), just as those who believe in it weep,

وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلٌّذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا

And they fall down on their faces weeping and it increases their humility. (17;109)

Allah said;

وَأَنتُمْ سَامِدُونَ

And you laugh to scorn and manifest contempt, instead of weeping out your eyes and your hearts
