Al-Waqi'ah Verse 60

We have ordained death for ˹all of˺ you, and We cannot be prevented

We have ordained death among you, and nothing can overcome us

We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped;

We ordained death to be among you. Nothing could stop Us

We! it is We Who have decreed death Unto you all. And We are not to be outrun.

We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated

It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated.

We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered

It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten –

We have ordained death among you, and We are not to be outmaneuvered

It is also We Who decree death among you – and We cannot be overcome,

It is We that have ordained death for all of you. And We cannot be stopped from (it),

We predestined between you the death/lifelessness, and We are not with being surpassed/preceded

It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten -

We have ordained death among you and We are not to be frustrated

We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable,

Is it you that create it or are We the Creators?

We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome,

We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun,

We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us

It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed

We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped,

It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented

We have decreed death among you, and We will not be outstripped.

We have ordained (read qaddarn or qadarn) death among you, and We are not to be outmanoeuvred from, We are not incapable [of],

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ

We have decreed death to you all,

meaning, `We made death exist between you.'

Ad-Dahhak commented,

"Allah made the residents of the heavens and earth equal with regards to death."

Allah said,

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ



and We are not outstripped,

meaning, `We are never unable,

We determined death to fall to you as your common lot and We are not incapable of bringing it to effect
