اِتَّخَذُوْٓا اَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّهُمْ سَاۤءَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ   ( المنافقون: ٢ )

ittakhadhū
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟
They take
aymānahum
أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ
their oaths
junnatan
جُنَّةً
(as) a cover
faṣaddū
فَصَدُّوا۟
so they turn away
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) Way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۚ
(of) Allah
innahum
إِنَّهُمْ
Indeed
sāa
سَآءَ
evil is
مَا
what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do

Ittakhazoo aymaanahum junnatan fasaddoo 'an sabeelil laah; innahum saaa'a maa kaanoo ya'maloon (al-Munāfiq̈ūn 63:2)

Sahih International:

They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allah. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing. (Al-Munafiqun [63] : 2)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

They have made their oaths a shield, and thus they have prevented (others) from the way of Allah. Surely evil is what they have been doing.
