Al-Mulk Verse 16

Do you feel secure that the One Who is in heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you up as it quakes violently?

Do you feel secure that He Who is in the heaven will not cause the earth to sink with you, then suddenly convulse?

Do you feel secure that He who is in heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you, the while it rocks?

Are you sure that He who is in Heaven will not make the earth swallow you up with a violent shudder?

Are ye secure that He who is in the heaven will not sink the earth with you and then it should quake?

Do ye feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)?

Do you feel secure that He Who is in the heaven will not cause the earth to cave in with you, and then suddenly it will begin to rock violently?

Are you so unafraid that He who is in Heaven will not open up the earth to swallow you, when it will begin to tremble?

Have you become unafraid of the One Who controls the heavens, that He will not cause you to sink into the earth when it trembles?

Are you secure that He who is in the sky will not make the earth swallow you while it quakes?

And yet, are you secure that He Who is above everything will not cause the earth to swallow you up then, when it is in a state of commotion?

Do you feel secure from Him Who is overhead (to you all, thinking) that He may leave you downtrodden in the earth and may cause it to sink with you when all of a sudden it begins to shake?

Did you become safe/secure (trust) whom (are) in the sky/space that (E) He sinks down with you the earth/Planet Earth, so then it agitates/sways ?

Have you become unafraid of the One Who controls the heavens, that He will not cause you to sink into the earth when it trembles?

Have you taken security from Him Who is in heaven that He will not make the earth swallow you when it is shaken (convulsed)?

Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)?

Or do you feel secure that He Who is in the Heaven will not send on you a violent wind? Then shall you know how (truthful) was My warning!

Are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not make the earth to swallow you up? Then lo! it shall be in a state of commotion.

Have ye taken security from Him Who is in the heaven that He will not cause the earth to swallow you when lo! it is convulsed?

Do you feel secure that the One in the heavens will not cause you to sink into the earth when it is violently shaking?

Do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you up while it shakes?

Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven, will not cause the earth to sink with you, and then it should quake

Do you feel secure that He who is in heaven will not cause the earth to sink beneath you and then begin to quake?

Are you confident that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to collapse beneath you as it spins?

Are you secure (read a-amintum pronouncing both hamzas fully, or by not pronouncing the second one, inserting an alif between it and the other one, or without [the insertion] but replacing it with an alif instead) [in thinking] that He Who is in the heaven, [that He] Whose authority and power [is in the heaven], will not cause the earth to swallow you (an yakhsifa substitutes for man, `He Who') while it quakes?, [while] it moves underneath you and rises above you?

How can You feel Secure against the Punishment of Allah while He is Able to seize You however He wills

This is another indication of His gentleness and His mercy with His creatures. He is able to punish them because some of them disbelieve in Him and worship others besides Him, yet He is forbearing, He pardons, and He gives respite for an appointed time without hastening. This is as He says,

وَلَوْ يُوَاخِذُ اللَّهُ النَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُواْ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَابَّةٍ وَلَـكِن يُوَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَإِذَا جَأءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ بَصِيراً

And if Allah were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving creature on the surface of the earth; but He gives them respite to an appointed term;and when their term comes, then verily, Allah is Ever All-Seer of His servants. (35;45)

Here Allah says,

أَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِي السَّمَاء أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ الَارْضَ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَمُورُ




Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven, will not cause the earth to sink with you, and then it should quake?

meaning, that it would move back and forth, and be disrupted
