وَقَالَتْ طَّاۤىِٕفَةٌ مِّنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتٰبِ اٰمِنُوْا بِالَّذِيْٓ اُنْزِلَ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَجْهَ النَّهَارِ وَاكْفُرُوْٓا اٰخِرَهٗ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُوْنَۚ ( آل عمران: ٧٢ )
Wa qaalat taaa'ifatum min Ahlil Kitaabi aaminoo billazeee unzila 'alal lazeena aamanoo wajhan nahaari wakfurooo aakhirahoo la'alla hum yarji'oon (ʾĀl ʿImrān 3:72)
English Sahih:
And a faction of the People of the Scripture say [to each other], "Believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will return [i.e., abandon their religion], (Ali 'Imran [3] : 72)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Ainsi dit une partie des gens du Livre: «Au début du jour, croyez à ce qui a été révélé aux Musulmans, mais, à la fin du jour, rejetez-le, afin qu'ils retournent (à leur ancienne religion). (Ali-'Imran [3] : 72)

Un groupe de savants juifs dit: Croyez en apparence au Coran révélé aux croyants en début de journée et mécroyez en fin de journée, cela les fera douter de leur religion. Ils réagiront alors en disant:
Ils connaissent mieux que nous les livres d’Allah et voici qu’ils se rétractent de leur foi.
