قَالُوْا بَلْ لَّمْ تَكُوْنُوْا مُؤْمِنِيْنَۚ ( الصافات: ٢٩ )

They will say
Ils diront :

بَل
"Nay
« Plutôt,
lam
لَّمْ
not
ne pas
takūnū
تَكُونُوا۟
you were
vous étiez
mu'minīna
مُؤْمِنِينَ
believers
croyants !
Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu'mineen (aṣ-Ṣāffāt 37:29)
English Sahih:
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, (As-Saffat [37] : 29)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
«C'est vous plutôt (diront les chefs) qui ne vouliez pas croire. (As-Saffat [37] : 29)
