وَّيُعَذِّبَ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقٰتِ وَالْمُشْرِكِيْنَ وَالْمُشْرِكٰتِ الظَّاۤنِّيْنَ بِاللّٰهِ ظَنَّ السَّوْءِۗ عَلَيْهِمْ دَاۤىِٕرَةُ السَّوْءِۚ وَغَضِبَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَنَهُمْ وَاَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَهَنَّمَۗ وَسَاۤءَتْ مَصِيْرًا ( الفتح: ٦ )
Wa yu'azzibal munaafiqeena walmunaafiqaati wal mushrikeena walmushrikaatiz zaaanneena billaahi zannas saw'; 'alaihim daaa'iratus saw'i wa ghadibal laahu 'alaihim wa la'anahum wa a'adda lahum jahannama wa saaa' at maseeraa (al-Fatḥ 48:6)
English Sahih:
And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women – those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allah has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination. (Al-Fath [48] : 6)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Et afin qu'Il châtie les hypocrites, hommes et femmes, et les associateurs et les associatrices, qui pensent du mal d'Allah. Qu'un mauvais sort tombe sur eux. Allah est courroucé contre eux, les a maudits, et leur a préparé l'Enfer. Quelle mauvaise destination! (Al-Fath [48] : 6)

Cette rétribution est également mentionnée afin que les hypocrites, hommes et femmes, ainsi que les mécréants et mécréantes soient châtiés, car ils pensaient qu’Allah ne ferait pas triompher Sa religion ni n’élèverait Sa parole, et le châtiment s’abattit alors sur eux. Allah est en colère contre eux pour leur mécréance et le mauvais soupçon qu’ils entretiennent à Son égard. De plus, Il les exclura de Sa miséricorde et les vouera à un séjour éternel en Enfer, et quelle mauvaise demeure que l’Enfer !
