وَاِذْ قَالُوا اللهم اِنْ كَانَ هٰذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَاَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاۤءِ اَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيْمٍ ( الأنفال: ٣٢ )
Wa iz qaalul laahumma in kaana haazaa huwal haqqa min 'indika fa amtir 'alainaa hijaaratam minas samaaa'i awi'tinaa bi 'azaabin alaeem (al-ʾAnfāl 8:32)
English Sahih:
And [remember] when they said, "O Allah, if this should be the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment." (Al-Anfal [8] : 32)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Et quand ils dirent: «O Allah, si cela est la vérité de Ta part, alors, fais pleuvoir du ciel des pierres sur nous, ou fais venir sur nous un châtiment douloureux». (Al-Anfal [8] : 32)

Ô Messager, rappelle-toi lorsque les polythéistes dirent: Ô Allah, si ce que Muħammad apporte est la vérité, fais alors tomber du Ciel sur nous des pierres qui nous anéantissent ou abats sur nous un châtiment terrible. Ils exagérèrent dans la dénégation et le déni en disant cela.
