وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَ بَنِيْٓ اِسْرَاۤءِيْلَ لَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَانًا وَّذِى الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتٰمٰى وَالْمَسٰكِيْنِ وَقُوْلُوْا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا وَّاَقِيْمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۗ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا مِّنْكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ ( البقرة: ٨٣ )
Waith akhathna meethaqa banee israeela la ta'budoona illa Allaha wabialwalidayni ihsanan wathee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illa qaleelan minkum waantum mu'ridoona (al-Baq̈arah 2:83)

और याद करो जब इसराईल की सन्तान से हमने वचन लिया, 'अल्लाह के अतिरिक्त किसी की बन्दगी न करोगे; और माँ-बाप के साथ और नातेदारों के साथ और अनाथों और मुहताजों के साथ अच्छा व्यवहार करोगे; और यह कि लोगों से भली बात कहो और नमाज़ क़ायम करो और ज़कात दो।' तो तुम फिर गए, बस तुममें से बचे थोड़े ही, और तुम उपेक्षा की नीति ही अपनाए रहे
English Sahih:
And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give Zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing. ([2] Al-Baqarah : 83)

और (वह वक्त याद करो) जब हमने बनी ईसराइल से (जो तुम्हारे बुर्जुग़ थे) अहद व पैमान लिया था कि खुदा के सिवा किसी की इबादत न करना और माँ बाप और क़राबतदारों और यतीमों और मोहताजों के साथ अच्छे सुलूक करना और लोगों के साथ अच्छी तरह (नरमी) से बातें करना और बराबर नमाज़ पढ़ना और ज़कात देना फिर तुममें से थोड़े आदिमियों के सिवा (सब के सब) फिर गए और तुम लोग हो ही इक़रार से मुँह फेरने वाले
