وَاَنِ احْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ اَهْوَاۤءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ اَنْ يَّفْتِنُوْكَ عَنْۢ بَعْضِ مَآ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ اِلَيْكَۗ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ اَنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يُّصِيْبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوْبِهِمْ ۗوَاِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ لَفٰسِقُوْنَ ( المائدة: ٤٩ )
Waani ohkum baynahum bima anzala Allahu wala tattabi' ahwaahum waihtharhum an yaftinooka 'an ba'di ma anzala Allahu ilayka fain tawallaw fai'lam annama yureedu Allahu an yuseebahum biba'di thunoobihim wainna katheeran mina alnnasi lafasiqoona (al-Māʾidah 5:49)

और यह कि तुम उनके बीच वही फ़ैसला करो जो अल्लाह ने उतारा है और उनकी इच्छाओं का पालन न करो और उनसे बचते रहो कि कहीं ऐसा न हो कि वे तुम्हें फ़रेब में डालकर जो कुछ अल्लाह ने तुम्हारी ओर उतारा है उसके किसी भाग से वे तुम्हें हटा दें। फिर यदि वे मुँह मोड़े तो जान लो कि अल्लाह ही उनके गुनाहों के कारण उन्हें संकट में डालना चाहता है। निश्चय ही अधिकांश लोग उल्लंघनकारी है
English Sahih:
And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away – then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient. ([5] Al-Ma'idah : 49)

तब (उस वक्त) ज़िन बातों में तुम इख्तेलाफ़ करते वह तुम्हें बता देगा और (ऐ रसूल) हम फिर कहते हैं कि जो एहकाम ख़ुदा नाज़िल किए हैं तुम उसके मुताबिक़ फैसला करो और उनकी (बेजा) ख्वाहिशे नफ़सियानी की पैरवी न करो (बल्कि) तुम उनसे बचे रहो (ऐसा न हो) कि किसी हुक्म से जो ख़ुदा ने तुम पर नाज़िल किया है तुमको ये लोग भटका दें फिर अगर ये लोग तुम्हारे हुक्म से मुंह मोड़ें तो समझ लो कि (गोया) ख़ुदा ही की मरज़ी है कि उनके बाज़ गुनाहों की वजह से उन्हें मुसीबत में फॅसा दे और इसमें तो शक ही नहीं कि बहुतेरे लोग बदचलन हैं
