وَمَا لَهُمْ اَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّوْنَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوْٓا اَوْلِيَاۤءَهٗۗ اِنْ اَوْلِيَاۤؤُهٗٓ اِلَّا الْمُتَّقُوْنَ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ( الأنفال: ٣٤ )
Wa Mā Lahum 'Allā Yu`adhdhibahum Allāhu Wa Hum Yaşuddūna `An Al-Masjidi Al-Ĥarāmi Wa Mā Kānū 'Awliyā'ahu 'In 'Awliyā'uuhu 'Illā Al-Muttaqūna Wa Lakinna 'Aktharahum Lā Ya`lamūna. (al-ʾAnfāl 8:34)
A. S. F. Bubenheim and N. Elyas:
Und was haben sie nun, daß Allah sie nicht strafen sollte, wo sie (euch) von der geschützten Gebetsstätte abhalten? Und sie waren nicht ihre Beschützer. Ihre Beschützer sind ja nur die Gottesfürchtigen'! Aber die meisten von ihnen wissen nicht. ([8] al-Anfal (Die Beute) : 34)
English Sahih:
But why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al-Haram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know. ([8] Al-Anfal : 34)
