وَاِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ اسْجُدُوْا لِاٰدَمَ فَسَجَدُوْٓا اِلَّآ اِبْلِيْسَۗ قَالَ ءَاَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِيْنًاۚ   ( الإسراء: ٦١ )

wa-idh
وَإِذْ
And when
qul'nā
قُلْنَا
We said
lil'malāikati
لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
to the Angels
us'judū
ٱسْجُدُوا۟
"Prostrate
liādama
لِءَادَمَ
to Adam"
fasajadū
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟
So they prostrated
illā
إِلَّآ
except
ib'līsa
إِبْلِيسَ
Iblis
qāla
قَالَ
He said
a-asjudu
ءَأَسْجُدُ
"Shall I prostrate
liman
لِمَنْ
to (one) whom
khalaqta
خَلَقْتَ
You created
ṭīnan
طِينًا
(from) clay?"

Wa iz qulnaa lilma laaa'ikatis judoo li Aadama fasajadooo illaaa Ibleesa qaala 'a-asjudu liman khalaqta teena (al-ʾIsrāʾ 17:61)

Sahih International:

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He said, "Should I prostrate to one You created from clay?" (Al-Isra [17] : 61)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

(Remember) when We said to the angels, “Prostrate yourself before ’Ādam.” So, they all prostrated, except Iblīs (Satan). He said, “Shall I prostrate before the one You have created from mud?”
