وَاِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ اسْجُدُوْا لِاٰدَمَ فَسَجَدُوْٓا اِلَّآ اِبْلِيْسَ اَبٰى ۗ  ( طه: ١١٦ )

wa-idh
وَإِذْ
And when
qul'nā
قُلْنَا
We said
lil'malāikati
لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
to the Angels
us'judū
ٱسْجُدُوا۟
"Prostrate
liādama
لِءَادَمَ
to Adam"
fasajadū
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟
then they prostrated
illā
إِلَّآ
except
ib'līsa
إِبْلِيسَ
Iblis;
abā
أَبَىٰ
he refused

Wa iz qulnaa lilma laaa'ikatis judoo li Aadama fasajadooo illaaa Iblees; abaa (Ṭāʾ Hāʾ 20:116)

Sahih International:

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused. (Taha [20] : 116)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

When We said to the angels, “Prostrate yourselves to ’Ādam”. So, all of them fell prostrate, except Iblīs , who refused.
