Ash-Shu'ara Verse 54

˹and said,˺ “These ˹outcasts˺ are just a handful of people,

saying, “These are but a small band,

'Behold, these are a small troop,

‘These people are a puny band––

Verily these are but a band small.

(Saying); "These (Israelites) are but a small band,

saying: "These (Israelites) are only a small band of people

(Proclaiming): "Surely they are a small band (of fugitives).

They announced “These people are a small group.”

[proclaiming:] ‘These are indeed a small band.

(Saying:) "Those people are indeed a paltry band;

`These (Israelites) are indeed a despicable party, a few in number,

That, those (are) a small group/portion (E) few/little

They announced “These people are a small group.”

(Who said) "Verily, these are a small company

(Saying): "Verily! These indeed are but a small band.

And We revealed to Moses, saying: Travel by night with My servants -- you will be pursued.

Most surely these are a small company;

(Who said): Lo! these indeed are but a little troop,

The Pharaoh sent word to all the cities saying,

'These' they said, 'are a small band,

(Saying): "Verily, these indeed are but a small band."

"These," they said, "are only a small band,

“These are a small gang.

`Lo! these are but a small gang. It is said that they [the Children of Israel] numbered 670,000, while his [Pharaoh's] vanguard alone numbered 700,000 and so he deemed their number insignificant in comparison to his huge army.

إِنَّ هَوُلَاء

Verily, these,

meaning, the Children of Israel,

لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ



indeed are but a small band.

meaning, a small group.

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَايِظُونَ

He said to them: "Mussa and his people -the Israelites- are only some few contemptible body
