As-Saffat Verse 164

˹The angels respond,˺ “There is not one of us without an assigned station ˹of worship˺.

[The angels say], “There is none among us but has a known station:

None of us is there, but has a known station;

[The angels say], ‘Every single one of us has his appointed place:

Of us there is none but hath a station assigned.

(Those ranged in ranks say); "Not one of us but has a place appointed;

As for us, there is none but has an appointed station.

"There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.)

And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.”

‘There is none among us but has a known place.

(The angels whom they assert to be God’s daughters say): "There is none among us but has his duty and position assigned,

(The righteous say,) `Each one of us has his assigned place.

(The angels say): "And none for Us except for him (is) a known place and time/position/status

And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.”

(The angels or those who are ranged in ranks say,) "And there is none of us but has an assigned place

There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);

Save him who will burn in the flaming Fire.

And there is none of us but has an assigned place,

There is not one of us but hath his known position.

The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place.

(Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place.

And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place;

[The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned:

“There is not one of us but has an assigned position.

Gabriel said to the Prophet (s); And there is not one of us, [us] the company of angels, but has a known station, in the heavens, in which he worships God and which he does not transgress.

And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place;

meaning, each one has his own place in the heavens and in the places of worship, which he does not overstep.

Ad-Dahhak said in his Tafsir;
وَمَا مِنَّا إِلاَّ لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ


"And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place;"

Masruq used to narrate that A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said,

"The Messenger of Allah said;

مَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا مَوْضِعٌ إِلاَّ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ سَاجِدٌ أَوْ قَايِم

There is no place in the lower heaven without an angel standing or prostrating in it.

This is what Allah says;
وَمَا مِنَّا إِلاَّ لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position)."

It was reported that Ibn Mas`ud said,

"In the heavens there is one heaven in which there is no space a hand span wide but there is the forehead or the foot of an angel on it. "

Then he recited;
وَمَا مِنَّا إِلاَّ لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
(And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place;)

Sa`id bin Jubayr similarly said;

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ

And none of us say the angels but has a place in a certain rank
