And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?" (Ghafir [40] : 47)

And, mention, when they will be arguing, [when] they, the disbelievers, will be disputing, [with one another] in the Fire, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, `Indeed we were your followers (taba`an is the plural of tbi`); so will you [now] avail, [will you] defend, us against any portion of the Fire?'
And, when they will dispute in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant;
Allah tells us how the people of Hell will dispute and argue with one another, and Fir`awn and his people will be among them. The weak, who were the followers, will say to those who were arrogant, who were the leaders and masters;
إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا
Verily, we followed you,
meaning, `we obeyed you and heeded your call to disbelief and misguidance in the world, '
can you then take from us some portion of the Fire?
means, `can you carry a part of our burden for us?
28 Almuntakhab Fi Tafsir Alquran Alkarim
There and then shall all the inmates of Hell interchange altercating words and hold angry discourse and thus say the weak who lacked strength of purpose and will to those who were extravagant in their accounts of themselves "We were your followers: are you now going to carry on our behalf a share of this burdensome infernal afflictions
