وَقَالُوْا لَوْلَآ اُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ ۗوَلَوْ اَنْزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِيَ الْاَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنْظَرُوْنَ   ( الأنعام: ٨ )

And they said

عَلَيْهِ

مَلَكٌۖ
an Angel?"

وَلَوْ
And if
anzalnā
أَنزَلْنَا
We (had) sent down
malakan
مَلَكًا
an Angel
laquḍiya
لَّقُضِىَ
surely (would) have been decided
l-amru
ٱلْأَمْرُ
the matter
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
لَا
no
yunẓarūna
يُنظَرُونَ
respite would have been granted to them

Wa qaaloo law laaa unzila alaihi malakunw wa law anzalna malakal laqudiyal amru summa laa yunzaroon (al-ʾAnʿām 6:8)

Sahih International:

And they say, "Why was there not sent down to him an angel?" But if We had sent down an angel, the matter would have been decided; then they would not be reprieved. (Al-An'am [6] : 8)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

They say, “Why is it that an angel has not been sent down to him?” Had We sent down an angel, the whole matter would have been closed, and thereafter no further time would have been allowed to them.
