ذٰلِكَ هُدَى اللّٰهِ يَهْدِيْ بِهٖ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهٖ ۗوَلَوْ اَشْرَكُوْا لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ( الأنعام: ٨٨ )

هُدَى
(is the) Guidance
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
yahdī
يَهْدِى
He guides
bihi
بِهِۦ
with it
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
min
مِنْ
of
ʿibādihi
عِبَادِهِۦۚ
His slaves
walaw
وَلَوْ
But if
ashrakū
أَشْرَكُوا۟
they (had) associated partners (with Allah)
laḥabiṭa
لَحَبِطَ
surely (would be) worthless
ʿanhum
عَنْهُم
for them
mā
مَّا
what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used to
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
Zaalika hudal laahi yahdee bihee mai yashaaa'u min 'ibaadih; wa law ashrakoo lahabita 'anhum maa kaanoo ya'maloon (al-ʾAnʿām 6:88)
Sahih International:
That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whomever He wills of His servants. But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing. (Al-An'am [6] : 88)
1 Mufti Taqi Usmani
That is Allah’s guidance. He guides with it whomsoever He wills from among His servants. Had they associated partners with Him, all they did would have been nullified for them.
