Al-Fajr Verse 19

And you devour ˹others’˺ inheritance greedily,[[ They take over the inheritance of orphans and women.]]

and you greedily consume the entire inheritance,

and you devour the inheritance greedily,

you consume inheritance greedily,

And devour the inheritance devouring greedily,

And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,

and greedily devour the entire inheritance,

And you devour (others') inheritance greedily,

And you readily devour the inheritance with greed.

You eat the inheritance rapaciously,

And you consume inheritance (belonging to you or others) with greed (without distinction of the lawful and unlawful);

And you devour the heritage (of others) wholly and indiscriminately,

And you eat the inheritance accumulatively/collectively gluttony .

And you readily devour the inheritance with greed.

And you devour the inheritance (of the weak) with greed,

And you devour inheritance all with greed,

And you love wealth with exceeding love.

And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately,

And ye devour heritages with devouring greed.

Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately

and you devour the inheritance with greed,

And you devour the Turath -- devouring with greed.

and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak,

And you devour inheritance with all greed.

and they devour inheritance (turth means mrth) greedily (lamman), that is to say, voraciously, when they appropriate (lammuhum) the women's and the young ones' share of the inheritance together with their own share of it, or to their own wealth;

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ


And you devour the Turath,

meaning, the inheritance.

أَكْلً لَّمًّا



devouring with greed.

meaning, however they can get it, whether lawful or forbidden.

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
