وَاِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُ اتَّقِ اللّٰهَ اَخَذَتْهُ الْعِزَّةُ بِالْاِثْمِ فَحَسْبُهٗ جَهَنَّمُ ۗ وَلَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ ( البقرة: ٢٠٦ )
And when
وَإِذَا
और जब
it is said
قِيلَ
कहा जाता है
to him
لَهُ
उसे
"Fear
ٱتَّقِ
डरो
Allah"
ٱللَّهَ
अल्लाह से
takes him
أَخَذَتْهُ
आमादा करती है उसे
(his) pride
ٱلْعِزَّةُ
इज़्ज़त
to [the] sins
بِٱلْإِثْمِۚ
गुनाह पर
Then enough for him
فَحَسْبُهُۥ
तो काफ़ी है उसे
(is) Hell -
جَهَنَّمُۚ
जहन्नम
[and] surely an evil
وَلَبِئْسَ
और अलबत्ता कितना बुरा है
[the] resting-place
ٱلْمِهَادُ
ठिकाना
Waitha qeela lahu ittaqi Allaha akhathathu al'izzatu bialithmi fahasbuhu jahannamu walabisa almihadu (al-Baq̈arah 2:206)

और जब उससे कहा जाता है, 'अल्लाह से डर', तो अहंकार उसे और गुनाह पर जमा देता है। अतः उसके लिए तो जहन्नम ही काफ़ी है, और वह बहुत-ही बुरी शय्या है!
English Sahih:
And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place. ([2] Al-Baqarah : 206)
