اَفَلَمْ يَسِيْرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۗ كَانُوْٓا اَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَاَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَّاٰثَارًا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَمَآ اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا يَكْسِبُوْنَ ( غافر: ٨٢ )
Afalam yaseeroo fee alardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana 'aqibatu allatheena min qablihim kanoo akthara minhum waashadda quwwatan waatharan fee alardi fama aghna 'anhum ma kanoo yaksiboona (Ghāfir 40:82)

फिर क्या वे धरती में चले-फिरे नहीं कि देखते कि उन लोगों का कैसा परिणाम हुआ, जो उनसे पहले गुज़र चुके है। वे उनसे अधिक थे और शक्ति और अपनी छोड़ी हुई निशानियों की दृष्टि से भी बढ़-चढ़कर थे। किन्तु जो कुछ वे कमाते थे, वह उनके कुछ भी काम न आया
English Sahih:
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn. ([40] Ghafir : 82)

तो क्या ये लोग रूए ज़मीन पर चले फिरे नहीं, तो देखते कि जो लोग इनसे पहले थे उनका क्या अंजाम हुआ, जो उनसे (तादाद में) कहीं ज्यादा थे और क़ूवत और ज़मीन पर (अपनी) निशानियाँ (यादगारें) छोड़ने में भी कहीं बढ़ चढ़ कर थे तो जो कुछ उन लोगों ने किया कराया था उनके कुछ भी काम न आया
