وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَّثَلَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاۤءٍ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهٖ نَبَاتُ الْاَرْضِ فَاَصْبَحَ هَشِيْمًا تَذْرُوْهُ الرِّيٰحُ ۗوَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّقْتَدِرًا ( الكهف: ٤٥ )
Wadrib lahum masalal hayaatid dunyaa kamaaa'in anzalnaahu minas samaaa'i fakhtalata bihee nabaatul ardi fa asbaha hasheeman tazroo hur riyaah; wa kaanal laahu 'alaa kulli shai'im muqtadiraa (al-Kahf 18:45)
Abdul Hameed Baqavi:
(நபியே!) இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கைக்கு ஓர் உதாரணத்தை அவர்களுக்குக் கூறுங்கள்: அது மேகத்திலிருந்து நாம் இறக்கி வைக்கும் (மழை) நீருக்கு ஒப்பாக இருக்கிறது. பூமியிலுள்ள புற்பூண்டுகள் (அதைக் குடித்து) அதனுடன் கலந்து (நல்ல பயிராயிற்று. எனினும், அது பலன் தருவதற்குப் பதிலாக) காற்றடித்துக் கொண்டு போகக்கூடிய காய்ந்த சருகாகிவிட்டது. (இதுவே இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கைக்கு உதாரணமாகும்.) அனைத்தின் மீதும் அல்லாஹ் ஆற்றலுடையவனாக இருக்கின்றான்.
English Sahih:
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability. ([18] Al-Kahf : 45)

மேலும், இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கைக்கு ஓர் உதாரணம், அவர்களுக்கு (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக! “அது நாம் வானத்திலிருந்து இறக்கி வைத்த நீரைப் போலிருக்கிறது; பூமியிலுள்ள தாவரங்கள் அதனுடன் கலந்(து செழித்)தன; ஆனால் அவை காய்ந்து, பதராகி அவற்றைக் காற்று அடித்துக் கொண்டு போய் விடுகிறது - மேலும், எல்லாப் பொருளின் மீதும் அல்லாஹ் ஆற்றலுடையவனாக இருக்கின்றான்.
