وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ اَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلٰى حَيٰوةٍ ۛوَمِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اَشْرَكُوْا ۛيَوَدُّ اَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ اَلْفَ سَنَةٍۚ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِهٖ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ اَنْ يُّعَمَّرَۗ وَاللّٰهُ بَصِيْرٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ࣖ ( البقرة: ٩٦ )
Wa Latajidannahum 'Aĥraşa An-Nāsi `Alaá Ĥayāatin Wa Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Ashrakū Yawaddu 'Aĥaduhum Law Yu`ammaru 'Alfa Sanatin Wa Mā Huwa Bimuzaĥziĥihi Mina Al-`Adhābi 'An Yu`ammara Wa Allāhu Başīrun Bimā Ya`malūna. (al-Baq̈arah 2:96)
A. S. F. Bubenheim and N. Elyas:
Und ganz gewiß wirst du sie als die gierigsten Menschen nach Leben finden, sogar mehr (noch) als diejenigen, die (Allah etwas) beigesellen. (Manch) einer von ihnen möchte gern tausend Jahre am Leben bleiben, aber selbst daß er am Leben bliebe, würde ihn nicht das der Strafe entrücken. Allah sieht wohl, was sie tun. ([2] al-Baqara (Die Kuh) : 96)
English Sahih:
And you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life – [even] more than those who associate others with Allah. One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allah is Seeing of what they do. ([2] Al-Baqarah : 96)

Und mit Sicherheit wirst du sie mehr am Leben hängend als alleMenschen finden, und ebenso diejenigen, die Schirk betrieben haben. Jeder von ihnen wünscht sich, er würde tausend Jahre leben. Doch es wird ihn von der Peinigung keineswegs verschonen, daß er lange lebt. Und ALLAH ist allsehend dessen, was sie tun.
