Al-Hijr Verse 57

He ˹then˺ added, “What is your mission, O  messenger-angels?”

He said, “So, what is your mission, O messengers?”

He said, 'And what is your business, envoys?'

and then asked, ‘Messengers, what is your errand?’

He said: what is your errand, sent ones?

Abraham said; "What then is the business on which ye (have come), O ye messengers (of Allah)?"

He added: "What is your errand O sent ones?"

And asked them: "What matter, O angels, brings you here?"

He said, “And what is your next task, O the sent angels?”

He said, ‘O messengers, what is now your errand?’

He said: "Then (after that) what is your concern, O you (heavenly) envoys?"

He added, `O you messengers! what is your real business then?´

He said: "So what (is) your matter/affair/concern, you, the messengers

He said, "And what is your next task, O the sent angels?"

He said, "What then is your business, O you messengers

[Ibrahim (Abraham) again] said: "What then is the business on which you have come, O Messengers?"

He said: And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord but the erring ones?

He said: What is your business then, O apostles?

He said: And afterward what is your business, O ye messengers (of Allah)?

Messengers, what is your task?"

He asked: 'Messengers, what is your errand'

He said: "What then is the business for which you have come, O messengers"

Then he asked, "What then is your business, O messengers?"

He said, “So what is your business, O envoys?”

He said, `So what is your business, O you who have been sent [by God]?'

The Reason why the Angels came

Allah tells;

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ



He said;"What then is the business for which you have come, O messengers!"

Allah tells us that after Ibrahim had calmed down from the excitement of this good news, he started to ask them why they had come to him.

قَالُواْ إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ

And now", Ibrahim said, "what is the errand on which you Messengers have come
