وَاِذَا مَسَّكُمُ الضُّرُّ فِى الْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَنْ تَدْعُوْنَ اِلَّآ اِيَّاهُۚ فَلَمَّا نَجّٰىكُمْ اِلَى الْبَرِّ اَعْرَضْتُمْۗ وَكَانَ الْاِنْسَانُ كَفُوْرًا  ( الإسراء: ٦٧ )

wa-idhā
وَإِذَا
And when
massakumu
مَسَّكُمُ
touches you
l-ḍuru
ٱلضُّرُّ
the hardship
فِى
in
l-baḥri
ٱلْبَحْرِ
the sea
ḍalla
ضَلَّ
lost
man
مَن
(are) who
tadʿūna
تَدْعُونَ
you call
illā
إِلَّآ
except
iyyāhu
إِيَّاهُۖ
Him Alone
falammā
فَلَمَّا
But when
najjākum
نَجَّىٰكُمْ
He delivers you
ilā
إِلَى
to
l-bari
ٱلْبَرِّ
the land
aʿraḍtum
أَعْرَضْتُمْۚ
you turn away
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And is
l-insānu
ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ
man
kafūran
كَفُورًا
ungrateful

Wa izaa massakumuddurru fil bahri dalla man tad'oona illaaa iyyaahu falammaa najjaakum ilal barri a'radtum; wa kaanal insaanu kafooraa (al-ʾIsrāʾ 17:67)

Sahih International:

And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful. (Al-Isra [17] : 67)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

you face a hardship at sea, vanished are those whom you used to invoke, except Him (Allah). Then, once He brings you safe to the land, you turn away (from Him); man is so ungrateful.
