وَمَثَلُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا كَمَثَلِ الَّذِيْ يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لَا يَسْمَعُ اِلَّا دُعَاۤءً وَّنِدَاۤءً ۗ صُمٌّ ۢ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُوْنَ   ( البقرة: ١٧١ )

فَهُمْ
[so] they
لَا
(do) not
yaʿqilūna
يَعْقِلُونَ
understand

Wa masalul lazeena kafaroo kamasalil lazee yan'iqu bimaa laa yasma'u illaa du'aaa'anw wa nidaaa'aa; summum bukmun 'umyun fahum laa ya'qiloon (al-Baq̈arah 2:171)

Sahih International:

The example of those who disbelieve is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries [i.e., cattle or sheep] – deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand. (Al-Baqarah [2] : 171)

The example of (calling) those who disbelieve is such as someone is shouting at an animal that hears nothing but a call and cry. They are deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand
