Ash-Shu'ara Verse 225

Do you not see how they rant in every field,[[ lit., roam aimlessly in every valley. ]]

Do you not see that they wander aimlessly in every valley,

hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley

Do you not see how they rove aimlessly in every valley;

Observest thou not, that they Wander about every vale.

Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?-

Do you not see that they wander about in every valley

Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley,

Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley?

Have you not regarded that they rove in every valley,

Do you not see that they roam confusedly through all the valleys (of falsehoods, thoughts, and currents).

Do you not see how they wander distracted in every valley,

Do you not see that they truly are in every/each valley they wander about confused ?

Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley?

As for poets, those follow them who are astray.

See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry?

They give ear, and most of them are liars.

Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley?

Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley,

Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley

Have you not seen how they wander in every valley,

See you not that they speak about every subject in their poetry

Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley,

Do you not see how they ramble in every style?

Have you not noticed that -- are you not aware that -- in every valley, of the valleys of rhetoric and the art thereof, they rove, overstepping the bounds [of decency] in [their] eulogies and diatribes,

See you not that they speak about every subject in their poetry!

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported from Ibn Abbas that this means;

"They indulge in every kind of nonsense."

Ad-Dahhak reported that Ibn Abbas said,

"They engage in every kind of verbal art."

This was also the view of Mujahid and others.

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَاأ يَفْعَلُونَ
