Ash-Shu'ara Verse 56

but we are all on the alert.”

but we are all well-prepared.”

and we are a host on our guard.'

and we are a large army, on the alert.’

And verily we are host well-provided.

"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."

But we are a numerous host, ever on guard."

But we are a fully accounted army."

“And indeed we are an alert army.”

and we are alert and fully prepared.’

"As for us, we are assuredly a numerous host, ever on guard."

`And we are, (as compared with them,) a united multitude, fully equipped and vigilant.´

And that we (E) (are) all together (E) cautious

“And indeed we are an alert army.”

But we are a multitude and wary

"But we are host all assembled, amply fore-warned."

These are indeed a small band,

And most surely we are a vigilant multitude.

And lo! we are a ready host.

who have enraged us greatly.

and we are a host on our guard'

"But we are a host all assembled, amply forewarned."

we are a large and watchful force."

But we are a vigilant multitude.”

and indeed we are all on our guard', ready (a variant reading [for hadhirna] has hdhirn, meaning `alert').

But we are a host all assembled, amply forewarned.

means, `we are constantly taking precautions lest they betray us.'

Some of the Salaf read this with the meaning,

"we are constantly forewarned and forearmed. And I want to destroy them to the last man, and destroy all their lands and property."

So he and his troops were punished with the very things he sought to inflict upon the Children of Israel.

Allah says;

فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

And We are all cautious and on our guard
