As-Saffat Verse 51

One of them will say, “I once had a companion ˹in the world˺

One of them will say, “I had a close friend [in the world]

One of them says, 'I had a comrade

one will say, ‘I had a close companion on earth

And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was Unto me a mate.

One of them will start the talk and say; "I had an intimate companion (on the earth),

One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world

Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend

The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” –

One of them will say, ‘Indeed I had a companion

One of them speaks thus: "I had a close companion,

One of them will say, `Surely I had an intimate companion (in the world),

A speaker from them said: "That I, (there) was for me (a) companion ."

The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” -

A speaker from among them shall say, "Surely I had a comrade on earth,

A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world),

Then some of them will turn to others, questioning mutually.

A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine,

A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade

One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me,

One of them will say: 'I had a companion

A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world),"

one of them will say, "I had a friend,

One of them will say, “I used to have a friend.

One of them will say, `Indeed I had a comrade, a companion who used to reject [the idea of] resurrection,

A speaker of them will say;"Verily, I had a companion..."

Al-`Awfi reported that Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him said,

"This refers to an idolator man who had a companion among the believers in this world."

يَقُولُ أَيِنَّكَ لَمِنْ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ
