Adh-Dhariyat Verse 25

˹Remember˺ when they entered his presence and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” ˹Then he said to himself,˺ “˹These are˺ an unfamiliar people.”

When they came to him and said, “Peace.” He said, “Upon you be peace.” [saying to himself] “Unknown people!”

When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.'

They went in to see him and said, ‘Peace.’ ‘Peace,’ he said, [adding to himself] ‘These people are strangers.’

When they came in Unto him, and said:'peace!' he said: 'peace'! - people unknown.

Behold, they entered his presence, and said; "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people."

When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.”

When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise.

When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.”

When they entered into his presence, they said, ‘Peace!’ ‘Peace!’ He answered, ‘[You are] an unfamiliar folk.’

They presented themselves before him and bade him peace. He said (in returning their greeting) "Peace!" (and thought:) A people unknown.

Behold! they came to him and greeted him with peace, he said (in reply), `(On you be) peace.´ (He thought) they were all strangers.

When they entered on him, so they said: "A greeting/security/peace." He said: "A greeting/security/peace (you) unknown/disguised nation."

When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.”

When they entered his presence they said, "Peace. Peace." Said he, "What a strange people."

When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me,"

Has the story of Abraham’s honoured guests reached thee?

When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people.

When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me).

When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people".

They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me'

When they came in to him and said: "Salaman!" He answered: "Salamun" and said: "You are a people unknown to me."

When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers."

When they entered upon him, they said, “Peace.” He said, “Peace, strangers.”

When (idh is an adverbial qualifier of hadthu dayfi, `the story of the guests') they entered upon him and said, `Peace!' -- in other words [they said] these very words. He said, `Peace!' -- [also] these very words -- [These are] an unfamiliar folk, whom we do not know -- he said this to himself (qawmun munkarna is the predicate of an implicit subject such as h'l'i, `these are').

إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَمًا

قَالَ سَلَامٌ

When they came in to him and said;"Salaman!"

He answered;"Salamun."

وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٍ فَحَيُّواْ بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَأ أَوْ رُدُّوهَأ

When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or return it equally. (4;86)

So the Friend of Allah chose a better reply in return for their greeting, implementing Allah's command;Reciprocating the greeting with the term Salamun is stronger than the greeting using the term Salaman.

The three angels; Jibril, Mika'il and Israfil came to Ibrahim in the image of handsome young wonderfully graceful men. This is why Ibrahim said,

قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ



You are a people unknown to me.
