Al-A'raf Verse 111

They replied, “Let him and his brother wait and send mobilizers to all cities

They said, “let him and his brother wait for a while, and send heralds to the cities

They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers,

They said, ‘Delay him and his brother for a while, and send messengers to all the cities

They said: put him and his bro ther off, and send unto the cities callers.

They said; "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect-

Then they advised Pharaoh: 'Put off Moses and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to your cities

They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities

They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.”

They said, ‘Put him and his brother off for a while, and send heralds to the cities,

They said (to the Pharaoh): "Put him and his brother off for a while, and (in the meantime) send forth heralds to all cities

(After their deliberations) they said (to Pharaoh), `Put him and his brother off a while and send to the cities heralds,

They said: "Delay/postpone him and his brother and send in the cities/towns gatherers

They said, "Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people."

They said, "Delay him and his brother, and send summoners into the cities

They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) -

He intends to turn you out of your land. What do you advise?

They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities:

They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners,

The others suggested holding Moses and his brother off and sending to all the cities

Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers

They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers to the cities to collect"

They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners,

They said, “Put him off, and his brother, and send heralds to the cities.”

They said, `Put him and his brother off a while, postpone [any decision regarding] their affair, and send into the towns summoners, gatherers,

Allah tells;

قَالُواْ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ

They said;"Put him and his brother off (for a time),

Ibn Abbas commented,
أَرْجِهْ
("Put him off"),

means, "delay him (for a time)."

وَأَرْسِلْ فِي الْمَدَايِنِ

"and send to the cities,"

areas and provinces of your kingdom -- O Fir`awn,

حَاشِرِينَ



"to collect."

to gather magicians from various lands.

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ

They suggested to Pharaoh they should adapt themselves and conform to the time and circumstances so as to gain time and added: "The time to degrade and defeat him and his brother has not come yet". "Meanwhile, send, O Pharaoh, some of your recruits to the cities to gather to themselves the multitude of men who practice magic
