وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا سَبَقُوْاۗ اِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُوْنَ   ( الأنفال: ٥٩ )

walā
وَلَا
And (let) not

يَحْسَبَنَّ

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kafarū
كَفَرُوا۟
disbelieve
sabaqū
سَبَقُوٓا۟ۚ
they can outstrip
innahum
إِنَّهُمْ
Indeed they
لَا
(can) not
yuʿ'jizūna
يُعْجِزُونَ
escape

Wa laa yahsabannal lazeena kafaroo sabaqooo; innahum laa yu'jizoon (al-ʾAnfāl 8:59)

Sahih International:

And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allah]. (Al-Anfal [8] : 59)

1 Mufti Taqi Usmani

The disbelievers should never think that they have surpassed (the divine punishment). Surely, they cannot frustrate (the Divine will).
