وَقُلْ لِّلْمُؤْمِنٰتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ اَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوْجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلٰى جُيُوْبِهِنَّۖ وَلَا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَاۤىِٕهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَاۤءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَاۤىِٕهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَاۤءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَنِيْٓ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَنِيْٓ اَخَوٰتِهِنَّ اَوْ نِسَاۤىِٕهِنَّ اَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ اَوِ التَّابِعِيْنَ غَيْرِ اُولِى الْاِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذِيْنَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوْا عَلٰى عَوْرٰتِ النِّسَاۤءِ ۖوَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِاَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِيْنَ مِنْ زِيْنَتِهِنَّۗ وَتُوْبُوْٓا اِلَى اللّٰهِ جَمِيْعًا اَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ ( النور: ٣١ )
Wa qul lilmu'minaati yaghdudna min absaarihinna wa yahfazna furoojahunna wa laa yubdeena zeenatahunna illaa maa zahara minhaa walyadribna bikhumurihinna 'alaa juyoobihinna wa laa yubdeena zeenatahunna illaa libu'oolatihinna aw aabaaa'i hinna aw aabaaa'i bu'oolati hinna aw abnaaa'ihinaa aw abnaaa'i bu'oolatihinnna aw ikhwaanihinnna aw baneee ikhwaanihinna aw banee akhawaatihinna aw nisaaa'i hinna aw maa malakat aimaanuhunna awit taabi'eena ghairi ilil irbati minar rijaali awit tiflillazeena lam yazharoo 'alaa 'awraatin nisaaa'i wala yadribnna bi arjulihinna min zeenatihinn; wa toobooo ilallaahi jammee'an aiyuhal mu'minoona la'allakum tuflihoon (an-Nūr 24:31)
English Sahih:
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment [i.e., beauty] except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess [i.e., slaves], or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. (An-Nur [24] : 31)
Karakunnu/Elayavoor (കാരകുന്ന് & എളയാവൂര്):
നീ സത്യവിശ്വാസിനികളോട് പറയുക: അവരും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൃഷ്ടികള് നിയന്ത്രിക്കണം. ഗുഹ്യഭാഗങ്ങള് കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കണം; തങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരസൗന്ദര്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തരുത്; സ്വയം വെളിവായതൊഴികെ. ശിരോവസ്ത്രം മാറിടത്തിനുമീതെ താഴ്ത്തിയിടണം. തങ്ങളുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്, പിതാക്കള്, ഭര്ത്തൃപിതാക്കള്, പുത്രന്മാര്, ഭര്ത്തൃപുത്രന്മാര്, സഹോദരങ്ങള്, സഹോദരപുത്രന്മാര്, സഹോദരീപുത്രന്മാര്, തങ്ങളുമായി ഇടപഴകുന്ന സ്ത്രീകള്, വലംകൈ ഉടമപ്പെടുത്തിയവര്, ലൈംഗികാസക്തിയില്ലാത്ത പുരുഷപരിചാരകര്, സ്ത്രൈണ രഹസ്യങ്ങളറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലാത്ത കുട്ടികള് എന്നിവരുടെ മുന്നിലൊഴികെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരഭംഗി വെളിവാക്കരുത്. മറച്ചുവെക്കുന്ന അലങ്കാരത്തിലേക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധ തിരിക്കാനായി കാലുകള് നിലത്തടിച്ച് നടക്കരുത്. സത്യവിശ്വാസികളേ; നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും ഒന്നായി അല്ലാഹുവിങ്കലേക്ക് പശ്ചാത്തപിച്ചു മടങ്ങുക. നിങ്ങള് വിജയം വരിച്ചേക്കാം. (അന്നൂര് [24] : 31)

സത്യവിശ്വാസിനികളോടും അവരുടെ ദൃഷ്ടികള് താഴ്ത്തുവാനും അവരുടെ ഗുഹ്യാവയവങ്ങള് കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുവാനും, അവരുടെ ഭംഗിയില് നിന്ന് പ്രത്യക്ഷമായതൊഴിച്ച്[1] മറ്റൊന്നും വെളിപ്പെടുത്താതിരിക്കുവാനും നീ പറയുക. അവരുടെ മക്കനകള് കുപ്പായമാറുകള്ക്ക് മീതെ അവര് താഴ്ത്തിയിട്ടുകൊള്ളട്ടെ. അവരുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്, അവരുടെ പിതാക്കള്, അവരുടെ ഭര്തൃപിതാക്കള്, അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാര്, അവരുടെ ഭര്തൃപുത്രന്മാര്, അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാര്, അവരുടെ സഹോദരപുത്രന്മാര്, അവരുടെ സഹോദരീ പുത്രന്മാര്, മുസ്ലിംകളില് നിന്നുള്ള സ്ത്രീകള്, അവരുടെ വലംകൈകള് ഉടമപ്പെടുത്തിയവര് (അടിമകള്), ലൈംഗികാസക്തി ഉള്ളവരല്ലാത്ത പുരുഷന്മാരായ പരിചാരകര്, സ്ത്രീകളുടെ രഹസ്യങ്ങള് മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത കുട്ടികള് എന്നിവരൊഴിച്ച് മറ്റാര്ക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ ഭംഗി അവര് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തരുത്. തങ്ങള് മറച്ചു വെക്കുന്ന തങ്ങളുടെ അലങ്കാരം അറിയപ്പെടുവാന് വേണ്ടി അവര് കാലിട്ടടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യരുത്.[2] സത്യവിശ്വാസികളേ, നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും അല്ലാഹുവിങ്കലേക്ക് ഖേദിച്ചുമടങ്ങുക. നിങ്ങള് വിജയം പ്രാപിച്ചേക്കാം.
[1] 'പ്രത്യക്ഷമായത്' എന്നത് കൊണ്ടുള്ള വിവക്ഷ മുഖവും കൈപടങ്ങളുമാണെന്നാണ് പണ്ഡിതന്മാരില് ഒരു വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം. എന്നാൽ അന്യപുരുഷന്മാരുടെ മുൻപിൽ ശരീരം മുഴുവൻ മറക്കൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് നിർബന്ധമാണെന്നാണ് പ്രബലമായ അഭിപ്രായം.
[2] പാദസരങ്ങളുടെ കിലുക്കം കേള്പ്പിക്കാന് വേണ്ടി കാല് അമര്ത്തിച്ചവിട്ടി നടക്കുന്നതും അതുപോലെ ശ്രദ്ധ ക്ഷണിക്കുവാനോ, സൗന്ദര്യം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുവാനോ സ്ത്രീകള് സ്വീകരിക്കുന്ന തന്ത്രങ്ങളും നിഷിദ്ധമാണെന്ന് ഇതില് നിന്ന് ഗ്രഹിക്കാം.
