وَكَاَيِّنْ مِّنْ قَرْيَةٍ عَتَتْ عَنْ اَمْرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهٖ فَحَاسَبْنٰهَا حِسَابًا شَدِيْدًاۙ وَّعَذَّبْنٰهَا عَذَابًا نُّكْرًا ( الطلاق: ٨ )
Wa ka ayyim min qaryatin 'atat 'an amri Rabbihaa wa Rusulihee fahaasabnaahaa hisaaban shadeedanw wa 'azzabnaahaa 'azaaban nukraa (aṭ-Ṭalāq̈ 65:8)
English Sahih:
And how many a city was insolent toward the command of its Lord and His messengers, so We took it to severe account and punished it with a terrible punishment. (At-Talaq [65] : 8)

എത്രയോ നാടുകള്‍, അവയുടെ നാഥന്റെയും അവന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരുടെയും കല്‍പനകള്‍ നിരാകരിച്ച് ധിക്കാരം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. അപ്പോള്‍ നാം അവയെ കര്‍ക്കശമായ വിചാരണക്കു വിധേയമാക്കി. കൊടിയ ശിക്ഷ നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്തു. (അത്ത്വലാഖ് [65] : 8)

എത്രയെത്ര രാജ്യക്കാര്‍ അവരുടെ രക്ഷിതാവിന്‍റെയും അവന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരുടെയും കല്‍പന വിട്ട് ധിക്കാരം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അതിനാല്‍ നാം അവരോട് കര്‍ക്കശമായ നിലയില്‍ കണക്കു ചോദിക്കുകയും അവരെ നാം ഹീനമായ വിധത്തില്‍ ശിക്ഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
