وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيٰتُنَا قَالُوْا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاۤءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هٰذَآ ۙاِنْ هٰذَآ اِلَّآ اَسَاطِيْرُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ ( الأنفال: ٣١ )
And when are recited
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ
ஓதப்பட்டால்
to them
عَلَيْهِمْ
அவர்கள் மீது
Our Verses
ءَايَٰتُنَا
நம் வசனங்கள்
they say
قَالُوا۟
கூறுகின்றனர்
"Verily we have heard
قَدْ سَمِعْنَا
செவியேற்று விட்டோம்
if we wish
لَوْ نَشَآءُ
நாம் நாடியிருந்தால்
surely, we could say
لَقُلْنَا
கூறியிருப்போம்
like this
مِثْلَ هَٰذَآۙ
இது போன்று
Not is this but
إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ
இவை இல்லை/தவிர
tales
أَسَٰطِيرُ
கட்டுக் கதைகளே
(of) the former (people)"
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
முன்னோரின்
Wa izaa tutlaa 'alaihim Aayaatunaa qaaloo qad sami'naa law nashaaa'u laqulnaa misla haazaaa in haazaaa illaaa asaateerul awwaleen (al-ʾAnfāl 8:31)
Abdul Hameed Baqavi:
நம்முடைய வசனங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு ஓதிக் காண்பிக்கப் படுமானால் அதற்கவர்கள், "நிச்சயமாக நாம் (இதனை முன்னரே) செவியுற்றுள்ளோம்; நாம் விரும்பினால் இம்மாதிரியான வசனங்களை நாமும் கூறுவோம். இவை முன்னோரின் கட்டுக்கதைகளேயன்றி வேறில்லை" என்று கூறுகின்றனர்.
English Sahih:
And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples." ([8] Al-Anfal : 31)
