And most of them do not follow except assumption/supposition , that the assumption/supposition does not suffice (replace) from the truth a thing, that God (is) knowledgeable with what they make/do.

12 Faridul Haque

And most of them do not follow anything except assumptions; indeed assumption does not serve the least purpose (in place) of the truth; indeed Allah knows their deeds.

13 Hamid S. Aziz

Say, "Is there any of your associates who guides unto the truth?" Say, "Allah guides unto the truth." Is then He who guides unto the truth more worthy to be followed, or he that guides not except he is himself guided? What ails you then, how judge you?

14 Hilali & Khan

And most of them follow nothing but conjecture. Certainly, conjecture can be of no avail against the truth. Surely, Allah is All-Aware of what they do.

15 Maulana Mohammad Ali

Say: Is there any of your associate-gods who guides to the Truth? Say: Allah guides to the Truth. Is He then Who guides to the Truth more worthy to be followed, or he who finds not the way unless he is guided? What is matter with you? How do you judge?

16 Mohammad Habib Shakir

And most of them do not follow (anything) but conjecture; surely conjecture will not avail aught against the truth; surely Allah is cognizant of what they do.

17 Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

24 Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ إِلاَّ ظَنًّا إَنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ شَيْيًا
