An-Nur Verse 51

The only response of the ˹true˺ believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger so he may judge between them, is to say, “We hear and obey.” It is they who will ˹truly˺ succeed.

As for the believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger so that he may judge between them, they say, “We listen and obey.” It is they who are the successful.

All that the believers say, when they are called to God and His Messenger, that he may judge between them, is that they say, 'We hear, and we obey'; those -- they are the prosperers.

When the true believers are summoned to God and His Messenger in order for him to judge between them, they say, ‘We hear and we obey.’ These are the ones who will prosper:

-The only saying of the believers when they were called to Allah and His apostle thathe might judge between them was that they said: We hear and we obey. And these! they are the very ones blissful.

The answer of the Believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger, in order that He may judge between them, is no other than this; they say, "We hear and we obey"; it is such as these that will attain felicity.

As regards the Believers, when they are called towards Allah and His Messenger so that the Messenger may judge between them, they say, "We have heard and obeyed"; such are the people who attain true success,

The answer of the believers when they are called to God and His Apostle that he may judge between them, is: "We hear and obey." And they are the ones who will prosper.

The saying of the Muslims when they are called towards Allah and His Noble Messenger in order that the Noble Messenger judge between them is that they submit, “We hear and we obey”; and it is they who have attained the goal.

All the response of the faithful, when they are summoned to Allah and His Apostle that He may judge between them, is to say, ‘We hear and obey.’ It is they who are the felicitous.

The only utterance of the (true) believers, when they are called to God and His Messenger so that the Messenger may judge between them, is: "We have heard and we obey." Such are those who are the prosperous.

The only response of the believers, when they are summoned before Allâh and His Messenger so that he may judge between them, is that they say, `We hear and we obey.´ It is they who will attain their goal.

But the believers` word/opinion and belief if they were called to God and His messenger to judge/rule between248them was that they say: "We heard/listened and we obeyed." And those are the successful/winners.

The saying of the Muslims when they are called towards Allah and His Noble Messenger in order that the Noble Messenger judge between them is that they submit, "We hear and we obey"; and it is they who have attained the goal.

Is there in their heart a disease, or do they doubt, or do they fear lest Allah and His Messenger should deal unjustly by them?- Nay, it is they who do wrong (or are unjust).

The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah (His Words, the Quran) and His Messenger (SAW), to judge between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey." And such are the prosperous ones (who will live forever in Paradise).

Is there in their hearts a disease, or are they in doubt, or fear they that Allah and His Messenger will deal with them unjustly? Nay! they themselves are the wrongdoers.

The response of the believers, when they are invited to Allah and His Apostle that he may judge between them, is only to say: We hear and we obey; and these it is that are the successful.

The saying of (all true) believers when they appeal unto Allah and His messenger to judge between them is only that they say: We hear and we obey. And such are the successful.

When the believers are called to God and His Messenger to be judged, their only words are, "We have listened and obeyed." They will have everlasting happiness.

But when the believers are called to Allah and His Messenger, in order that he judges between them, their reply is: 'We hear and obey' Such are theprosperous.

The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger, to judge between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey." And such are the successful.

The response of the believers, when they are called to God and His Messenger in order that he may judge between them, is only, "We hear and we obey." It is they who will prosper:

The response of the believers, when they are called to God and His Messenger in order to judge between them, is to say, “We hear and we obey.” These are the successful.

All that the believers say, when they are summoned to God and His Messenger, that he may judge between them, is that they say, in other words, the saying that befits them is [to say]; `We hear and we obey', by responding [to the summons]. And those, then, are the successful, the ones who will be saved.

إِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوْلَ الْمُوْمِنِينَ إِذَا دُعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن يَقُولُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا

The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger, to judge between them, is that they say;"We hear and we obey".

meaning, to hear to obey. Allah describes them as having attained success, which is achieving what one wants and being saved from what one fears.

So Allah says;

وَأُوْلَيِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ



And such are the successful.

Concerning the Ayah;
أَن يَقُولُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا
(they say;"We hear and we obey".), Qatadah said;

"We were told that when Ubadah bin As-Samit, who had been present at Al-Aqabah and at Badr, and was one of the leaders of the Ansar, was dying, he said to his nephew Junadah bin Abi Umayyah;`Shall I not tell you what you must do and what is your due!'

He said, `Yes.'

He said;

`You have to listen and obey when times are easy and when they are hard, when you feel energetic and when you do not want to, and when you feel selfish.

You have to train your tongue to speak the truth.

Do not go against those who are in authority, unless they openly command you to commit acts of disobedience to Allah.

Whenever you are commanded to do something that goes against the Book of Allah, then follow the Book of Allah."'

Qatadah said;We were told that Abu Ad-Darda' said,

"There is no Islam except through obedience to Allah, and no goodness except in Jama`ah.

Sincerity is to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Khalifah and all the believers."

He said;"And we were told that Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say;

`The bonds of Islam are
La ilaha illallah,

establishing prayer,

paying Zakah and

obeying those whom Allah has given authority over the affairs of the Muslims."'

This was recorded by Ibn Abi Hatim.

There are very many Hadiths and reports which state that it is obligatory to;

obey the Book of Allah,

the Sunnah of His Messenger,

the Rightly-Guided Khalifahs and the Imams when they command us to obey Allah;

there are too many of these reports to quote them all here
