An-Najm Verse 34

and ˹initially˺ paid a little ˹for his salvation˺, and then stopped?

who gave a little, and then stopped?

and gives a little, and then grudgingly?

he only gave a little and then he stopped.

And gave little, and then stopped?

Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?

who gave a little, and then stopped?

Who gives but little, and is niggardly?

And he gave a little, then refrained?

gave a little and held off?

He has given (the needy) a little, then he is stern (in not giving).

And gives but a little (in the cause of Allâh) and does it grudgingly.

And gave little and skimped/stinged?

And he gave a little, then refrained?

And gives a little and then withholds.

And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?

And Allah’s is whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil for that which they do, and reward those who do good with goodness.

And gives a little and (then) withholds.

And gave a little, then was grudging?

and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God?

and gives a little, grudgingly?

And gave a little, then stopped

who at first gave a little, then later held back?

And gave a little, and held back?

and gave a little, of the stated sum of money, and was then grudging?, refrained from [giving] the remainder (akd derives from al-kudya, earth that is hard as rock and which prevents the well-digger from digging through when he hits it).

And gave a little, then stopped,

Ibn Abbas said, "Gave a little, then stopped giving."

Similar was said by Mujahid, Sa`id bin Jubayr, Ikrimah, Qatadah and several others.

Ikrimah and Sa`id said;

"Like the case of a people who dig a well, during the course of which they find a rock preventing them from completing their work. So they say, `We are finished' and they abandon the work."

Allah's statement,

أَعِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَى
