وَاِذْ قَالَ مُوْسٰى لِقَوْمِهٖ يٰقَوْمِ اِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ اَنْفُسَكُمْ بِاتِّخَاذِكُمُ الْعِجْلَ فَتُوْبُوْٓا اِلٰى بَارِىِٕكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوْٓا اَنْفُسَكُمْۗ ذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِنْدَ بَارِىِٕكُمْۗ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۗ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ ( البقرة: ٥٤ )
Waith qala moosa liqawmihi ya qawmi innakum thalamtum anfusakum biittikhathikumu al'ijla fatooboo ila bariikum faoqtuloo anfusakum thalikum khayrun lakum 'inda bariikum fataba 'alaykum innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu (al-Baq̈arah 2:54)

और जब मूसा ने अपनी क़ौम से कहा, 'ऐ मेरी कौम के लोगो! बछड़े को देवता बनाकर तुमने अपने ऊपर ज़ुल्म किया है, तो तुम अपने पैदा करनेवाले की ओर पलटो, अतः अपने लोगों को स्वयं क़त्ल करो। यही तुम्हारे पैदा करनेवाले की स्पष्ट में तुम्हारे लिए अच्छा है, फिर उसने तुम्हारी तौबा क़बूल कर ली। निस्संदेह वह बड़ी तौबा क़बूल करनेवाला, अत्यन्त दयावान है।'
English Sahih:
And [recall] when Moses said to his people, "O my people, indeed you have wronged yourselves by your taking of the calf [for worship]. So repent to your Creator and kill yourselves [i.e., the guilty among you]. That is best for [all of] you in the sight of your Creator." Then He accepted your repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful. ([2] Al-Baqarah : 54)

और (वह वक्त भी याद करो) जब मूसा ने अपनी क़ौम से कहा कि ऐ मेरी क़ौम तुमने बछड़े को (ख़ुदा) बना के अपने ऊपर बड़ा सख्त जुल्म किया तो अब (इसके सिवा कोई चारा नहीं कि) तुम अपने ख़ालिक की बारगाह में तौबा करो और वह ये है कि अपने को क़त्ल कर डालो तुम्हारे परवरदिगार के नज़दीक तुम्हारे हक़ में यही बेहतर है, फिर जब तुमने ऐसा किया तो खुदा ने तुम्हारी तौबा क़ुबूल कर ली बेशक वह बड़ा मेहरबान माफ़ करने वाला है
