وَيَدْرَؤُا عَنْهَا الْعَذَابَ اَنْ تَشْهَدَ اَرْبَعَ شَهٰدٰتٍۢ بِاللّٰهِ اِنَّهٗ لَمِنَ الْكٰذِبِيْنَ ۙ ( النور: ٨ )
wayadra-u
وَيَدْرَؤُا۟
But it would prevent
Et repousse
ʿanhā
عَنْهَا
from her
d’elle
l-ʿadhāba
ٱلْعَذَابَ
the punishment
le châtiment
an
أَن
that
qu’
tashhada
تَشْهَدَ
she bears witness
elle témoigne
arbaʿa
أَرْبَعَ
four
quatre
shahādātin
شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ
testimonies
témoignages
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِۙ
by Allah
par Allâh
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
that he
(que) certes il (est)
lamina
لَمِنَ
(is) surely of
certainement parmi
l-kādhibīna
ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ
the liars
les menteurs
Wa yadra'u anhal 'azaaba an tashhada arba'a shahaa daatim billaahi innahoo laminal kaazibeen (an-Nūr 24:8)
English Sahih:
But it will prevent punishment from her if she gives four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars. (An-Nur [24] : 8)
Muhammad Hamidullah:
Et on ne lui infligera pas le châtiment [de la lapidation] si elle atteste quatre fois par Allah qu'il [son mari] est certainement du nombre des menteurs, (An-Nur [24] : 8)
