wakadhālika
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
anzalnāhu
أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
We have sent it down,
qur'ānan
قُرْءَانًا
(the) Quran
ʿarabiyyan
عَرَبِيًّا
(in) Arabic
waṣarrafnā
وَصَرَّفْنَا
and We have explained
fīhi
فِيهِ
in it
mina
مِنَ
of
l-waʿīdi
ٱلْوَعِيدِ
the warnings
laʿallahum
لَعَلَّهُمْ
that they may
yattaqūna
يَتَّقُونَ
fear
aw
أَوْ
or
yuḥ'dithu
يُحْدِثُ
it may cause
lahum
لَهُمْ
[for] them
dhik'ran
ذِكْرًا
remembrance.

Wa kazaalika anzalnaahu Qur-aanan 'Arabiyyanw wa sarrafnaa fee hi minal wa'eedi la'allahum yattaqoona aw yuhdisu lahum zikraa

Sahih International:

And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an and have diversified therein the warnings that perhaps they will avoid [sin] or it would cause them remembrance.

Even so We have sent it down as an Arabic Koran, and We have turned about in it something of threats, that haply they may be godfearing, or it may arouse in them remembrance.

(O Muhammad), thus have We revealed this as an Arabic Qur'an and have expounded in it warning in diverse ways so that they may avoid evil or become heedful.

That is why We have sent it down as an eloquent Qur'an, and explained in different ways the intimidations through it that they may haply take heed, or perhaps it may lead them to contemplate.

And this is how We revealed it as an Arabic Qur’an, and in different ways gave promises of punishment, that they may fear or it may create some pondering in their hearts.

8 Ali Quli Qarai

Thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran and We have paraphrased the warnings in it variously so that they may be Godwary, or it may prompt them to remembrance.

9 Ali Ünal

And thus have We sent it down as a qur’an (a discourse) in Arabic and set out in it warnings in diverse contexts and from diverse perspectives, so that they may keep from disobedience to Us in reverence for Us and piety, or that it may prompt them to remembrance and heedfulness.

10 Amatul Rahman Omar

Just as (We have revealed these verses) We have revealed the entire Qur´ân in Arabic. We have explained in it in various ways Our warnings (against refusal and evil doings), so that the people may guard against evil and become righteous; or rather this (Qur´ân) will bring forth for them a great glory and eminence.

11 English Literal

And as/like that We descended it (as) an Arabic Koran, and We laid out/detailed linguistically in it from the threat, maybe/perhaps they fear and obey, or it initiates/originates/informs for them a reminder/remembrance.

And this is how We revealed it as an Arabic Qur’an, and in different ways gave promises of punishment, that they may fear or it may create some pondering in their hearts.

But he who does righteous acts and has faith, he shall fear neither wrong nor diminution.

And thus We have sent it down as a Quran in Arabic, and have explained therein in detail the warnings, in order that they may fear Allah, or that it may cause them to have a lesson from it (or to have the honour for believing and acting on its teachings).

And whoever does good works and he is a believer, he has no fear of injustice, nor of the withholding of his due.

And thus have We sent it down an Arabic Quran, and have distinctly set forth therein of threats that they may guard (against evil) or that it may produce a reminder for them.

Thus we have revealed it as a Lecture in Arabic, and have displayed therein certain threats, that peradventure they may keep from evil or that it may cause them to take heed.

As such We sent it down, an Arabic Koran, and explained in it threats in order that they be cautious, or, that it prompts the Remembrance in them.

And thus We have sent it down as a Qur'an in Arabic, and have explained therein in detail the warnings, in order that they may have Taqwa, or that it may cause them to have a lesson from it.

21 Wahiduddin Khan

We have thus sent down the Quran in Arabic and given all kinds of warnings in it, so that they may fear God, or may take heed --

22 Talal Itani

Thus We have revealed it an Arabic Quran, and We have diversified the warnings in it, that perhaps they would become righteous, or it may produce a lesson for them.

23 Tafsir jalalayn

Thus (kadhlika, a supplement to [the previous] kadhlika naqussu, `thus We relate' [Q. 20;99]), just as We have revealed what has been mentioned, We have revealed it, that is, the Qur'n, as an Arabic Qur'n, and We have distributed, We have repeated, in it [statements] of threats, so that they may fear, associating others with God, or it, the Qur'n, may arouse in them a remembrance, of the destruction of those communities before, and may thus be admonished.

24 Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Qur'an was revealed so that the People would have Taqwa and reflect

Allah says,

وَكَذَلِكَ أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْانًا عَرَبِيًّا

And thus We have sent it down as a Qur'an in Arabic,

After Allah, the Exalted, mentions that on the Day of Judgement both the good and the evil will be recompensed and there is no avoiding it, He then explains that the Qur'an was revealed as a bringer of glad tidings and a warner in the clear and eloquent Arabic language. There is no confusion or deficiency in it.

وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ

and have explained therein in detail the warnings, in order that they may have Taqwa of,

This means;so that they will leave off sins, forbidden things and lewd abominations.

أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا



or that it may cause them to have a lesson from it.

This means;to produce acts of obedience and deeds that will bring one closer to Allah
