Surah [38] Sad : 21

وَهَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ نَبَؤُا الۡخَصۡمِ‌ۘ اِذۡ تَسَوَّرُوا الۡمِحۡرَابَۙ(ص :21)

وَهَلْ
And has (there)
أَتَىٰكَ
come to you
نَبَؤُا۟
(the) news
ٱلْخَصْمِ
(of) the litigants
إِذْ
when
تَسَوَّرُوا۟
they climbed over the wall
ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
(of) the chamber?

Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ith tasawwaroo almihraba

Sahih International:

And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber -

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [38] Sad : 22

اِذۡ دَخَلُوۡا عَلٰى دَاوٗدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنۡهُمۡ‌ قَالُوۡا لَا تَخَفۡ‌ۚ خَصۡمٰنِ بَغٰى بَعۡضُنَا عَلٰى بَعۡضٍ فَاحۡكُمۡ بَيۡنَنَا بِالۡحَقِّ وَلَا تُشۡطِطۡ وَاهۡدِنَاۤ اِلٰى سَوَآءِ الصِّرَاطِ‏(ص :22)

إِذْ
When
دَخَلُوا۟
they entered
عَلَىٰ
upon
دَاوُۥدَ
Dawood
فَفَزِعَ
and he was afraid
مِنْهُمْۖ
of them
قَالُوا۟
they said
لَا
"(Do) not
تَخَفْۖ
fear
خَصْمَانِ
(We are) two litigants
بَغَىٰ
has wronged
بَعْضُنَا
one of us
عَلَىٰ
to
بَعْضٍ
another
فَٱحْكُم
so judge
بَيْنَنَا
between us
بِٱلْحَقِّ
in truth
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُشْطِطْ
be unjust
وَٱهْدِنَآ
and guide us
إِلَىٰ
to
سَوَآءِ
an even
ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
[the] path

Ith dakhaloo 'ala dawooda fafazi'a minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmani bagha ba'duna 'ala ba'din faohkum baynana bialhaqqi wala tushtit waihdina ila sawai alssirati

Sahih International:

When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.

Surah [38] Sad : 23

اِنَّ هٰذَاۤ اَخِىۡ لَهٗ تِسۡعٌ وَّتِسۡعُوۡنَ نَعۡجَةً وَّلِىَ نَعۡجَةٌ وَّاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ اَكۡفِلۡنِيۡهَا وَعَزَّنِىۡ فِى الۡخِطَابِ(ص :23)

إِنَّ
Indeed
هَٰذَآ
this
أَخِى
(is) my brother
لَهُۥ
he has
تِسْعٌ
ninety-nine
وَتِسْعُونَ
ninety-nine
نَعْجَةً
ewe(s)
وَلِىَ
while I have
نَعْجَةٌ
ewe
وَٰحِدَةٌ
one
فَقَالَ
so he said
أَكْفِلْنِيهَا
"Entrust her to me"
وَعَزَّنِى
and he overpowered me
فِى
in
ٱلْخِطَابِ
[the] speech"

Inna hatha akhee lahu tis'un watis'oona na'jatan waliya na'jatun wahidatun faqala akfilneeha wa'azzanee fee alkhitabi

Sahih International:

Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."

Surah [38] Sad : 24

قَالَ لَقَدۡ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعۡجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِهٖ‌ ؕ وَاِنَّ كَثِيۡرًا مِّنَ الۡخُلَـطَآءِ لَيَبۡغِىۡ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلٰى بَعۡضٍ اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَقَلِيۡلٌ مَّا هُمۡ‌ ؕ وَظَنَّ دَاوٗدُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنّٰهُ فَاسۡتَغۡفَرَ رَبَّهٗ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَّاَنَابَ ۩(ص :24)

قَالَ
He said
لَقَدْ
"Certainly
ظَلَمَكَ
he has wronged you
بِسُؤَالِ
by demanding
نَعْجَتِكَ
your ewe
إِلَىٰ
to
نِعَاجِهِۦۖ
his ewes
وَإِنَّ
And indeed
كَثِيرًا
many
مِّنَ
of
ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ
the partners
لَيَبْغِى
certainly oppress
بَعْضُهُمْ
one
عَلَىٰ
[on]
بَعْضٍ
another
إِلَّا
except
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
وَعَمِلُوا۟
and do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ
righteous deeds
وَقَلِيلٌ
and few
مَّا
(are) they"
هُمْۗ
(are) they"
وَظَنَّ
And became certain
دَاوُۥدُ
Dawood
أَنَّمَا
that
فَتَنَّٰهُ
We (had) tried him
فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ
and he asked forgiveness
رَبَّهُۥ
(of) his Lord
وَخَرَّ
and fell down
رَاكِعًا
bowing
وَأَنَابَ۩
and turned in repentance

Qala laqad thalamaka bisuali na'jatika ila ni'ajihi wainna katheeran mina alkhulatai layabghee ba'duhum 'ala ba'din illa allatheena amanoo wa'amiloo alssalihati waqaleelun ma hum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahu faistaghfara rabbahu wakharra raki'an waanaba

Sahih International:

[David] said, "He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds - and few are they." And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allah ].
