Surah [5] Al-Ma'ida : 100

قُلْ لَّا يَسۡتَوِى الۡخَبِيۡثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوۡ اَعۡجَبَكَ كَثۡرَةُ الۡخَبِيۡثِ‌ ۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ يٰۤاُولِى الۡاَ لۡبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُوۡنَ(المائدة :100)

قُل
Say
لَّا
"Not
يَسْتَوِى
(are) equal
ٱلْخَبِيثُ
the evil
وَٱلطَّيِّبُ
and the good
وَلَوْ
even if
أَعْجَبَكَ
impresses you
كَثْرَةُ
abundance
ٱلْخَبِيثِۚ
(of) the evil
فَٱتَّقُوا۟
So fear
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
يَٰٓأُو۟لِى
O men
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
(of) understanding
لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
تُفْلِحُونَ
be successful"

Qul la yastawee alkhabeethu waalttayyibu walaw a'jabaka kathratu alkhabeethi faittaqoo Allaha ya olee alalbabi la'allakum tuflihoona

Sahih International:

Say, "Not equal are the evil and the good, although the abundance of evil might impress you." So fear Allah, O you of understanding, that you may be successful.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 108

وَلَا تَسُبُّوا الَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللّٰهَ عَدۡوًاۢ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمۡ ۖ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ مَّرۡجِعُهُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُهُمۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ (الأنعام :108)

وَلَا
And (do) not
تَسُبُّوا۟
insult
ٱلَّذِينَ
those whom
يَدْعُونَ
they invoke
مِن
from
دُونِ
other than
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
فَيَسُبُّوا۟
lest they insult
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
عَدْوًۢا
(in) enmity
بِغَيْرِ
without
عِلْمٍۗ
knowledge
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
زَيَّنَّا
We have made fair-seeming
لِكُلِّ
to every
أُمَّةٍ
community
عَمَلَهُمْ
their deed
ثُمَّ
Then
إِلَىٰ
to
رَبِّهِم
their Lord
مَّرْجِعُهُمْ
(is) their return
فَيُنَبِّئُهُم
then He will inform them
بِمَا
about what
كَانُوا۟
they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
do

Wala tasubboo allatheena yad'oona min dooni Allahi fayasubboo Allaha 'adwan bighayri 'ilmin kathalika zayyanna likulli ommatin 'amalahum thumma ila rabbihim marji'uhum fayunabbiohum bima kanoo ya'maloona

Sahih International:

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 122

اَوَمَنۡ كَانَ مَيۡتًا فَاَحۡيَيۡنٰهُ وَجَعَلۡنَا لَهٗ نُوۡرًا يَّمۡشِىۡ بِهٖ فِى النَّاسِ كَمَنۡ مَّثَلُهٗ فِى الظُّلُمٰتِ لَـيۡسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِّنۡهَا‌ ؕ كَذٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ مَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(الأنعام :122)

أَوَمَن
Is (one) who
كَانَ
was
مَيْتًا
dead
فَأَحْيَيْنَٰهُ
and We gave him life
وَجَعَلْنَا
and We made
لَهُۥ
for him
نُورًا
light
يَمْشِى
he walks
بِهِۦ
whereby
فِى
among
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people
كَمَن
like (one) who
مَّثَلُهُۥ
[similar to him]
فِى
(is) in
ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ
the darknesses
لَيْسَ
not
بِخَارِجٍ
he comes out
مِّنْهَاۚ
of it?
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
زُيِّنَ
is made fair-seeming
لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
to the disbelievers
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
they were
يَعْمَلُونَ
doing

Awa man kana maytan faahyaynahu waja'alna lahu nooran yamshee bihi fee alnnasi kaman mathaluhu fee alththulumati laysa bikharijin minha kathalika zuyyina lilkafireena ma kanoo ya'maloona

Sahih International:

And is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him light by which to walk among the people like one who is in darkness, never to emerge therefrom? Thus it has been made pleasing to the disbelievers that which they were doing.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [6] Al-An'am : 43

فَلَوۡلَاۤ اِذۡ جَآءَهُمۡ بَاۡسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوۡا وَلٰـكِنۡ قَسَتۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيۡطٰنُ مَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ(الأنعام :43)

فَلَوْلَآ
Then why not
إِذْ
when
جَآءَهُم
came to them
بَأْسُنَا
Our punishment
تَضَرَّعُوا۟
they humbled themselves?
وَلَٰكِن
But
قَسَتْ
became hardened
قُلُوبُهُمْ
their hearts
وَزَيَّنَ
and made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ
to them
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ
the Shaitaan
مَا
what
كَانُوا۟
they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ
do

Falawla ith jaahum basuna tadarra'oo walakin qasat quloobuhum wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu ma kanoo ya'maloona

Sahih International:

Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

Surah [18] Al-Kahf : 28

وَاصۡبِرۡ نَـفۡسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِيۡنَ يَدۡعُوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ بِالۡغَدٰوةِ وَالۡعَشِىِّ يُرِيۡدُوۡنَ وَجۡهَهٗ‌ وَلَا تَعۡدُ عَيۡنٰكَ عَنۡهُمۡ‌ ۚ تُرِيۡدُ زِيۡنَةَ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا‌ ۚ وَ لَا تُطِعۡ مَنۡ اَغۡفَلۡنَا قَلۡبَهٗ عَنۡ ذِكۡرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوٰٮهُ وَكَانَ اَمۡرُهٗ فُرُطًا(الكهف :28)

وَٱصْبِرْ
And be patient
نَفْسَكَ
yourself
مَعَ
with
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَدْعُونَ
call
رَبَّهُم
their Lord
بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ
in the morning
وَٱلْعَشِىِّ
and the evening
يُرِيدُونَ
desiring
وَجْهَهُۥۖ
His Face
وَلَا
And (let) not
تَعْدُ
pass beyond
عَيْنَاكَ
your eyes
عَنْهُمْ
over them
تُرِيدُ
desiring
زِينَةَ
adornment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
وَلَا
and (do) not
تُطِعْ
obey
مَنْ
whom
أَغْفَلْنَا
We Have Made Heedless
قَلْبَهُۥ
his heart
عَن
of
ذِكْرِنَا
Our rememberance
وَٱتَّبَعَ
and follows
هَوَىٰهُ
his desires
وَكَانَ
and is
أَمْرُهُۥ
his affair
فُرُطًا
(in) excess

Waisbir nafsaka ma'a allatheena yad'oona rabbahum bialghadati waal'ashiyyi yureedoona wajhahu wala ta'du 'aynaka 'anhum tureedu zeenata alhayati alddunya wala tuti' man aghfalna qalbahu 'an thikrina waittaba'a hawahu wakana amruhu furutan

Sahih International:

And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [40] Al-Mu'min : 36

وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ يٰهَامٰنُ ابۡنِ لِىۡ صَرۡحًا لَّعَلِّىۡۤ اَبۡلُغُ الۡاَسۡبَابَۙ(غافر :36)

وَقَالَ
And said
فِرْعَوْنُ
Firaun
يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ
"O Haman!
ٱبْنِ
Construct
لِى
for me
صَرْحًا
a tower
لَّعَلِّىٓ
that I may
أَبْلُغُ
reach
ٱلْأَسْبَٰبَ
the ways

Waqala fir'awnu ya hamanu ibni lee sarhan la'allee ablughu alasbaba

Sahih International:

And Pharaoh said, "O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways -

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [40] Al-Mu'min : 37

اَسۡبَابَ السَّمٰوٰتِ فَاَطَّلِعَ اِلٰٓى اِلٰهِ مُوۡسٰى وَاِنِّىۡ لَاَظُنُّهٗ كَاذِبًا ؕ وَكَذٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوۡٓءُ عَمَلِهٖ وَصُدَّ عَنِ السَّبِيۡلِ ؕ وَمَا كَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِلَّا فِىۡ تَبَابٍ(غافر :37)

أَسْبَٰبَ
(The) ways
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
(to) the heavens
فَأَطَّلِعَ
so I may look
إِلَىٰٓ
at
إِلَٰهِ
(the) God
مُوسَىٰ
(of) Musa;
وَإِنِّى
and indeed I
لَأَظُنُّهُۥ
[I] surely think him
كَٰذِبًاۚ
(to be) a liar"
وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
زُيِّنَ
was made fair-seeming
لِفِرْعَوْنَ
to Firaun
سُوٓءُ
(the) evil
عَمَلِهِۦ
(of) his deed
وَصُدَّ
and he was averted
عَنِ
from
ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ
the way
وَمَا
And not
كَيْدُ
(was the) plot
فِرْعَوْنَ
(of) Firaun
إِلَّا
except
فِى
in
تَبَابٍ
ruin

Asbaba alssamawati faattali'a ila ilahi moosa wainnee laathunnuhu kathiban wakathalika zuyyina lifir'awna sooo 'amalihi wasudda 'ani alssabeeli wama kaydu fir'awna illa fee tababin

Sahih International:

The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin.
