Surah [10] Yunus : 22

هُوَ الَّذِىۡ يُسَيِّرُكُمۡ فِى الۡبَرِّ وَالۡبَحۡرِ‌ؕ حَتّٰۤى اِذَا كُنۡتُمۡ فِى الۡفُلۡكِ ۚ وَ جَرَيۡنَ بِهِمۡ بِرِيۡحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَّفَرِحُوۡا بِهَا جَآءَتۡهَا رِيۡحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَّجَآءَهُمُ الۡمَوۡجُ مِنۡ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَّظَنُّوۡۤا اَنَّهُمۡ اُحِيۡطَ بِهِمۡ‌ ۙ دَعَوُا اللّٰهَ مُخۡلِصِيۡنَ لَـهُ الدِّيۡنَۙ  لَٮِٕنۡ اَنۡجَيۡتَـنَا مِنۡ هٰذِهٖ لَنَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الشّٰكِرِيۡنَ(يونس :22)

هُوَ
He
ٱلَّذِى
(is) the One Who
يُسَيِّرُكُمْ
enables you to travel
فِى
in
ٱلْبَرِّ
the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِۖ
and the sea
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
كُنتُمْ
you are
فِى
in
ٱلْفُلْكِ
the ships
وَجَرَيْنَ
and they sail
بِهِم
with them
بِرِيحٍ
with a wind
طَيِّبَةٍ
good
وَفَرِحُوا۟
and they rejoice
بِهَا
therein
جَآءَتْهَا
comes to it
رِيحٌ
a wind
عَاصِفٌ
stormy
وَجَآءَهُمُ
and comes to them
ٱلْمَوْجُ
the waves
مِن
from
كُلِّ
every
مَكَانٍ
place
وَظَنُّوٓا۟
and they assume
أَنَّهُمْ
that they
أُحِيطَ
are surrounded
بِهِمْۙ
with them
دَعَوُا۟
They call
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مُخْلِصِينَ
sincerely
لَهُ
to Him
ٱلدِّينَ
(in) the religion
لَئِنْ
(saying) If
أَنجَيْتَنَا
You save us
مِنْ
from
هَٰذِهِۦ
this
لَنَكُونَنَّ
surely we will be
مِنَ
among
ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ
the thankful"

Huwa allathee yusayyirukum fee albarri waalbahri hatta itha kuntum fee alfulki wajarayna bihim bireehin tayyibatin wafarihoo biha jaatha reehun 'asifun wajaahumu almawju min kulli makanin wathannoo annahum oheeta bihim da'awoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena lain anjaytana min hathihi lanakoonanna mina alshshakireena

Sahih International:

It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from everywhere and they assume that they are surrounded, supplicating Allah, sincere to Him in religion, "If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful."

Surah [11] Hud : 42

وَهِىَ تَجۡرِىۡ بِهِمۡ فِىۡ مَوۡجٍ كَالۡجِبَالِ وَنَادٰى نُوۡحُ اۨبۡنَهٗ وَكَانَ فِىۡ مَعۡزِلٍ يّٰبُنَىَّ ارۡكَبْ مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُنۡ مَّعَ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ‏(هود :42)

وَهِىَ
And it
تَجْرِى
sailed
بِهِمْ
with them
فِى
on
مَوْجٍ
the waves
كَٱلْجِبَالِ
like mountains
وَنَادَىٰ
and Nuh called out
نُوحٌ
and Nuh called out
ٱبْنَهُۥ
(to) his son
وَكَانَ
and he was
فِى
[in]
مَعْزِلٍ
apart
يَٰبُنَىَّ
"O my son!
ٱرْكَب
Embark
مَّعَنَا
with us
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَكُن
be
مَّعَ
with
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers"

Wahiya tajree bihim fee mawjin kaaljibali wanada noohunu ibnahu wakana fee ma'zilin ya bunayya irkab ma'ana wala takun ma'a alkafireena

Sahih International:

And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers."

Surah [11] Hud : 43

قَالَ سَاٰوِىۡۤ اِلٰى جَبَلٍ يَّعۡصِمُنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمَآءِ‌ؕ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ الۡيَوۡمَ مِنۡ اَمۡرِ اللّٰهِ اِلَّا مَنۡ رَّحِمَ‌ۚ وَحَالَ بَيۡنَهُمَا الۡمَوۡجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الۡمُغۡرَقِيۡنَ‏(هود :43)

قَالَ
He said
سَـَٔاوِىٓ
"I will betake myself
إِلَىٰ
to
جَبَلٍ
a mountain
يَعْصِمُنِى
(that) will save me
مِنَ
from
ٱلْمَآءِۚ
the water"
قَالَ
He said
لَا
"(There is) no
عَاصِمَ
protector
ٱلْيَوْمَ
today
مِنْ
from
أَمْرِ
the Command of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
the Command of Allah
إِلَّا
except
مَن
(on) whom
رَّحِمَۚ
He has mercy"
وَحَالَ
And came
بَيْنَهُمَا
(in) between them
ٱلْمَوْجُ
the waves
فَكَانَ
so he was
مِنَ
among
ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَ
the drowned

Qala saawee ila jabalin ya'simunee mina almai qala la 'asima alyawma min amri Allahi illa man rahima wahala baynahuma almawju fakana mina almughraqeena

Sahih International:

[But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [18] Al-Kahf : 99

وَتَرَكۡنَا بَعۡضَهُمۡ يَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ يَّمُوۡجُ فِىۡ بَعۡضٍ‌ وَّنُفِخَ فِى الصُّوۡرِ فَجَمَعۡنٰهُمۡ جَمۡعًا(الكهف :99)

وَتَرَكْنَا
And We (will) leave
بَعْضَهُمْ
some of them
يَوْمَئِذٍ
(on) that Day
يَمُوجُ
to surge
فِى
over
بَعْضٍۖ
others
وَنُفِخَ
and (will be) blown
فِى
in
ٱلصُّورِ
the trumpet
فَجَمَعْنَٰهُمْ
then We (will) gather them
جَمْعًا
all together

Watarakna ba'dahum yawmaithin yamooju fee ba'din wanufikha fee alssoori fajama'nahum jam'an

Sahih International:

And We will leave them that day surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly.

Surah [24] An-Nur : 40

اَوۡ كَظُلُمٰتٍ فِىۡ بَحۡرٍ لُّـجّـِىٍّ يَّغۡشٰٮهُ مَوۡجٌ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِهٖ مَوۡجٌ مِّنۡ فَوۡقِهٖ سَحَابٌ‌ؕ ظُلُمٰتٌۢ بَعۡضُهَا فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٍؕ اِذَاۤ اَخۡرَجَ يَدَهٗ لَمۡ يَكَدۡ يَرٰٮهَا‌ؕ وَمَنۡ لَّمۡ يَجۡعَلِ اللّٰهُ لَهٗ نُوۡرًا فَمَا لَهٗ مِنۡ نُّوۡرٍ(النور :40)

أَوْ
Or
كَظُلُمَٰتٍ
(is) like (the) darkness[es]
فِى
in
بَحْرٍ
a sea
لُّجِّىٍّ
deep
يَغْشَىٰهُ
covers it
مَوْجٌ
a wave
مِّن
on it
فَوْقِهِۦ
on it
مَوْجٌ
a wave
مِّن
on it
فَوْقِهِۦ
on it
سَحَابٌۚ
a cloud
ظُلُمَٰتٌۢ
darkness[es]
بَعْضُهَا
some of it
فَوْقَ
on
بَعْضٍ
others
إِذَآ
When
أَخْرَجَ
he puts out
يَدَهُۥ
his hand
لَمْ
hardly
يَكَدْ
hardly
يَرَىٰهَاۗ
he (can) see it
وَمَن
And (for) whom
لَّمْ
not
يَجْعَلِ
Allah (has) made
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (has) made
لَهُۥ
for him
نُورًا
a light
فَمَا
then not
لَهُۥ
for him
مِن
(is) any
نُّورٍ
light

Aw kathulumatin fee bahrin lujjiyyin yaghshahu mawjun min fawqihi mawjun min fawqihi sahabun thulumatun ba'duha fawqa ba'din itha akhraja yadahu lam yakad yaraha waman lam yaj'ali Allahu lahu nooran fama lahu min noorin

Sahih International:

Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light - for him there is no light.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [31] Luqman : 32

وَاِذَا غَشِيَهُمۡ مَّوۡجٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا اللّٰهَ مُخۡلِصِيۡنَ لَهُ الدِّيۡنَ فَلَمَّا نَجّٰٮهُمۡ اِلَى الۡبَـرِّ فَمِنۡهُمۡ مُّقۡتَصِدٌ ‌ؕ وَمَا يَجۡحَدُ بِاٰيٰتِنَاۤ اِلَّا كُلُّ خَتَّارٍ كَفُوۡرٍ(لقمان :32)

وَإِذَا
And when
غَشِيَهُم
covers them
مَّوْجٌ
a wave
كَٱلظُّلَلِ
like canopies
دَعَوُا۟
they call
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مُخْلِصِينَ
(being) sincere
لَهُ
to Him
ٱلدِّينَ
(in) religion
فَلَمَّا
But when
نَجَّىٰهُمْ
He delivers them
إِلَى
to
ٱلْبَرِّ
the land
فَمِنْهُم
then among them
مُّقْتَصِدٌۚ
(some are) moderate
وَمَا
And not
يَجْحَدُ
deny
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ
Our Signs
إِلَّا
except
كُلُّ
every
خَتَّارٍ
traitor
كَفُورٍ
ungrateful

Waitha ghashiyahum mawjun kaalththulali da'awoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena falamma najjahum ila albarri faminhum muqtasidun wama yajhadu biayatina illa kullu khattarin kafoorin

Sahih International:

And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [35] Fatir : 12

وَمَا يَسۡتَوِىۡ الۡبَحۡرٰنِ ‌ۖ هٰذَا عَذۡبٌ فُرَاتٌ سَآٮِٕغٌ شَرَابُهٗ وَ هٰذَا مِلۡحٌ اُجَاجٌ ؕ وَمِنۡ كُلٍّ تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ لَحۡمًا طَرِيًّا وَّتَسۡتَخۡرِجُوۡنَ حِلۡيَةً تَلۡبَسُوۡنَهَا ۚ وَتَرَى الۡـفُلۡكَ فِيۡهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبۡـتَـغُوۡا مِنۡ فَضۡلِهٖ وَلَعَلَّـكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡنَ(فاطر :12)

وَمَا
And not
يَسْتَوِى
are alike
ٱلْبَحْرَانِ
the two seas
هَٰذَا
This
عَذْبٌ
(is) fresh
فُرَاتٌ
sweet
سَآئِغٌ
pleasant
شَرَابُهُۥ
its drink
وَهَٰذَا
and this
مِلْحٌ
salty
أُجَاجٌۖ
(and) bitter
وَمِن
And from
كُلٍّ
each
تَأْكُلُونَ
you eat
لَحْمًا
meat
طَرِيًّا
fresh
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ
and you extract
حِلْيَةً
ornaments
تَلْبَسُونَهَاۖ
you wear them
وَتَرَى
and you see
ٱلْفُلْكَ
the ships
فِيهِ
in it
مَوَاخِرَ
cleaving
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟
so that you may seek
مِن
of
فَضْلِهِۦ
His Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْ
and that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ
be grateful

Wama yastawee albahrani hatha 'athbun furatun saighun sharabuhu wahatha milhun ojajun wamin kullin takuloona lahman tariyyan watastakhrijoona hilyatan talbasoonaha watara alfulka feehi mawakhira litabtaghoo min fadlihi wala'allakum tashkuroona

Sahih International:

And not alike are the two bodies of water. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
