Surah [2] Al-Baqara : 104

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَقُوۡلُوۡا رَاعِنَا وَ قُوۡلُوا انۡظُرۡنَا وَاسۡمَعُوۡا ‌ؕ وَلِلۡڪٰفِرِيۡنَ عَذَابٌ اَلِيۡمٌ(البقرة :104)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you
ٱلَّذِينَ
who
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe[d]!
لَا
"(Do) not
تَقُولُوا۟
say
رَٰعِنَا
"Raina"
وَقُولُوا۟
and say
ٱنظُرْنَا
"Unzurna"
وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ۗ
and listen
وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ
And for the disbelievers
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ
painful

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la taqooloo ra'ina waqooloo onthurna waisma'oo walilkafireena 'athabun aleemun

Sahih International:

O you who have believed, say not [to Allah 's Messenger], "Ra'ina" but say, "Unthurna" and listen. And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

Surah [4] An-Nisa' : 46

مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا يُحَرِّفُوۡنَ الۡـكَلِمَ عَنۡ مَّوَاضِعِهٖ وَ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ سَمِعۡنَا وَعَصَيۡنَا وَاسۡمَعۡ غَيۡرَ مُسۡمَعٍ وَّرَاعِنَا لَـيًّۢا بِاَ لۡسِنَتِهِمۡ وَطَعۡنًا فِىۡ الدِّيۡنِ‌ ؕ وَلَوۡ اَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوۡا سَمِعۡنَا وَاَطَعۡنَا وَاسۡمَعۡ وَانْظُرۡنَا لَـكَانَ خَيۡرًا لَّهُمۡ وَاَقۡوَمَ ۙ وَ لٰـكِنۡ لَّعَنَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ اِلَّا قَلِيۡلًا(النساء :46)

مِّنَ
Of
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
هَادُوا۟
are Jews
يُحَرِّفُونَ
they distort
ٱلْكَلِمَ
the words
عَن
from
مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ
their places
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they say
سَمِعْنَا
"We hear[d]
وَعَصَيْنَا
and we disobey[ed]"
وَٱسْمَعْ
and Hear
غَيْرَ
not
مُسْمَعٍ
to be heard
وَرَٰعِنَا
and Raina"
لَيًّۢا
twisting
بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ
[with] their tongues
وَطَعْنًا
and defaming
فِى
[in]
ٱلدِّينِۚ
the religion
وَلَوْ
And if
أَنَّهُمْ
[that] they
قَالُوا۟
(had) said
سَمِعْنَا
"We hear[d]
وَأَطَعْنَا
and we obey[ed]"
وَٱسْمَعْ
and Hear
وَٱنظُرْنَا
and look (at) us
لَكَانَ
surely it (would) have been
خَيْرًا
better
لَّهُمْ
for them
وَأَقْوَمَ
and more suitable
وَلَٰكِن
[And] but
لَّعَنَهُمُ
cursed them
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
بِكُفْرِهِمْ
for their disbelief
فَلَا
so not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they believe
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًا
a few

Mina allatheena hadoo yuharrifoona alkalima 'an mawadi'ihi wayaqooloona sami'na wa'asayna waisma' ghayra musma'in wara'ina layyan bialsinatihim wata'nan fee alddeeni walaw annahum qaloo sami'na waata'na waisma' waonthurna lakana khayran lahum waaqwama walakin la'anahumu Allahu bikufrihim fala yuminoona illa qaleelan

Sahih International:

Among the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] usages and say, "We hear and disobey" and "Hear but be not heard" and "Ra'ina," twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. And if they had said [instead], "We hear and obey" and "Wait for us [to understand]," it would have been better for them and more suitable. But Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [49] Al-Hujurat : 1

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تُقَدِّمُوۡا بَيۡنَ يَدَىِ اللّٰهِ وَرَسُوۡلِهٖ‌ وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَمِيۡعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ(الحجرات :1)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you who believe!
ٱلَّذِينَ
O you who believe!
ءَامَنُوا۟
O you who believe!
لَا
(Do) not
تُقَدِّمُوا۟
put (yourselves) forward
بَيْنَ
before Allah
يَدَىِ
before Allah
ٱللَّهِ
before Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ
and His Messenger
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
and fear Allah
ٱللَّهَۚ
and fear Allah
إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
سَمِيعٌ
(is) All-Hearer
عَلِيمٌ
All-Knower

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tuqaddimoo bayna yadayi Allahi warasoolihi waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha samee'un 'aleemun

Sahih International:

O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah . Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

Surah [49] Al-Hujurat : 2

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا لَا تَرۡفَعُوۡۤا اَصۡوَاتَكُمۡ فَوۡقَ صَوۡتِ النَّبِىِّ وَلَا تَجۡهَرُوۡا لَهٗ بِالۡقَوۡلِ كَجَهۡرِ بَعۡضِكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ اَنۡ تَحۡبَطَ اَعۡمَالُكُمۡ وَاَنۡـتُمۡ لَا تَشۡعُرُوۡنَ(الحجرات :2)

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you who believe!
ٱلَّذِينَ
O you who believe!
ءَامَنُوا۟
O you who believe!
لَا
(Do) not
تَرْفَعُوٓا۟
raise
أَصْوَٰتَكُمْ
your voices
فَوْقَ
above
صَوْتِ
(the) voice
ٱلنَّبِىِّ
(of) the Prophet
وَلَا
and (do) not
تَجْهَرُوا۟
be loud
لَهُۥ
to him
بِٱلْقَوْلِ
in speech
كَجَهْرِ
like (the) loudness
بَعْضِكُمْ
(of) some of you
لِبَعْضٍ
to others
أَن
lest
تَحْبَطَ
become worthless
أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ
your deeds
وَأَنتُمْ
while you
لَا
(do) not
تَشْعُرُونَ
perceive

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo la tarfa'oo aswatakum fawqa sawti alnnabiyyi wala tajharoo lahu bialqawli kajahri ba'dikum liba'din an tahbata a'malukum waantum la tash'uroona

Sahih International:

O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.

Surah [49] Al-Hujurat : 3

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يَغُضُّوۡنَ اَصۡوَاتَهُمۡ عِنۡدَ رَسُوۡلِ اللّٰهِ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ امۡتَحَنَ اللّٰهُ قُلُوۡبَهُمۡ لِلتَّقۡوٰى‌ؕ لَهُمۡ مَّغۡفِرَةٌ وَّاَجۡرٌ عَظِيۡمٌ(الحجرات :3)

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يَغُضُّونَ
lower
أَصْوَٰتَهُمْ
their voices
عِندَ
(in) presence
رَسُولِ
(of the) Messenger of Allah
ٱللَّهِ
(of the) Messenger of Allah
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
those
ٱلَّذِينَ
(are) the ones
ٱمْتَحَنَ
Allah has tested
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has tested
قُلُوبَهُمْ
their hearts
لِلتَّقْوَىٰۚ
for righteousness
لَهُم
For them
مَّغْفِرَةٌ
(is) forgiveness
وَأَجْرٌ
and a reward
عَظِيمٌ
great

Inna allatheena yaghuddoona aswatahum 'inda rasooli Allahi olaika allatheena imtahana Allahu quloobahum lilttaqwa lahum maghfiratun waajrun 'atheemun

Sahih International:

Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah - they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and great reward.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [49] Al-Hujurat : 4

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ يُنَادُوۡنَكَ مِنۡ وَّرَآءِ الۡحُجُرٰتِ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡقِلُوۡنَ(الحجرات :4)

إِنَّ
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يُنَادُونَكَ
call you
مِن
from
وَرَآءِ
behind
ٱلْحُجُرَٰتِ
the private chambers
أَكْثَرُهُمْ
most of them
لَا
(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
understand

Inna allatheena yunadoonaka min warai alhujurati aktharuhum la ya'qiloona

Sahih International:

Indeed, those who call you, [O Muhammad], from behind the chambers - most of them do not use reason.

Tafsir (More Translations)
Surah [49] Al-Hujurat : 5

وَلَوۡ اَنَّهُمۡ صَبَرُوۡا حَتّٰى تَخۡرُجَ اِلَيۡهِمۡ لَـكَانَ خَيۡرًا لَّهُمۡ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ(الحجرات :5)

وَلَوْ
And if
أَنَّهُمْ
they
صَبَرُوا۟
had been patient
حَتَّىٰ
until
تَخْرُجَ
you came out
إِلَيْهِمْ
to them
لَكَانَ
certainly it would be
خَيْرًا
better
لَّهُمْۚ
for them
وَٱللَّهُ
And Allah
غَفُورٌ
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful

Walaw annahum sabaroo hatta takhruja ilayhim lakana khayran lahum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun

Sahih International:

And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
