اَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِاَصْحٰبِ الْفِيْلِۗ ( الفيل: ١ )

رَبُّكَ
your Lord
bi-aṣḥābi
بِأَصْحَٰبِ
with (the) Companions
l-fīli
ٱلْفِيلِ
(of the) Elephant?
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
اَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِيْ تَضْلِيْلٍۙ ( الفيل: ٢ )

أَلَمْ
Did not

يَجْعَلْ
He make

كَيْدَهُمْ
their plan

تَضْلِيلٍ
astray?
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
وَّاَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا اَبَابِيْلَۙ ( الفيل: ٣ )
wa-arsala
وَأَرْسَلَ
And He sent
ʿalayhim
عَلَيْهِمْ
against them
ṭayran
طَيْرًا
birds
abābīla
أَبَابِيلَ
(in) flocks
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
تَرْمِيْهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّنْ سِجِّيْلٍۙ ( الفيل: ٤ )
tarmīhim
تَرْمِيهِم
Striking them
biḥijāratin
بِحِجَارَةٍ
with stones
min
مِّن
of
sijjīlin
سِجِّيلٍ
baked clay
Striking them with stones of hard clay.
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُوْلٍ ࣖ ( الفيل: ٥ )
fajaʿalahum
فَجَعَلَهُمْ
Then He made them
kaʿaṣfin
كَعَصْفٍ
like straw
makūlin
مَّأْكُولٍۭ
eaten up
And He made them like eaten straw.
