Surah [20] Ta-Ha : 40

اِذۡ تَمۡشِىۡۤ اُخۡتُكَ فَتَقُوۡلُ هَلۡ اَدُلُّـكُمۡ عَلٰى مَنۡ يَّكۡفُلُهٗ‌ ؕ فَرَجَعۡنٰكَ اِلٰٓى اُمِّكَ كَىۡ تَقَرَّ عَيۡنُهَا وَلَا تَحۡزَنَ  ؕ وَقَتَلۡتَ نَـفۡسًا فَنَجَّيۡنٰكَ مِنَ الۡغَمِّ وَفَتَـنّٰكَ فُتُوۡنًا ۚفَلَبِثۡتَ سِنِيۡنَ فِىۡۤ اَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ ۙ ثُمَّ جِئۡتَ عَلٰى قَدَرٍ يّٰمُوۡسٰى‏(طه :40)

إِذْ
When
تَمْشِىٓ
was going
أُخْتُكَ
your sister
فَتَقُولُ
and she said
هَلْ
"Shall
أَدُلُّكُمْ
I show you
عَلَىٰ
[to]
مَن
(one) who
يَكْفُلُهُۥۖ
will nurse and rear him'?"
فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ
So We returned you
إِلَىٰٓ
to
أُمِّكَ
your mother
كَىْ
that
تَقَرَّ
may be cooled
عَيْنُهَا
her eyes
وَلَا
and not
تَحْزَنَۚ
she grieves
وَقَتَلْتَ
And you killed
نَفْسًا
a man
فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ
but We saved you
مِنَ
from
ٱلْغَمِّ
the distress
وَفَتَنَّٰكَ
and We tried you
فُتُونًاۚ
(with) a trial
فَلَبِثْتَ
Then you remained
سِنِينَ
(some) years
فِىٓ
with
أَهْلِ
(the) people
مَدْيَنَ
(of) Madyan
ثُمَّ
Then
جِئْتَ
you came
عَلَىٰ
at
قَدَرٍ
the decreed (time)
يَٰمُوسَىٰ
O Musa!

Ith tamshee okhtuka fataqoolu hal adullukum 'ala man yakfuluhu faraja'naka ila ommika kay taqarra 'aynuha wala tahzana waqatalta nafsan fanajjaynaka mina alghammi wafatannaka futoonan falabithta sineena fee ahli madyana thumma jita 'ala qadarin ya moosa

Sahih International:

[And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses.

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 22

وَلَـمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلۡقَآءَ مَدۡيَنَ قَالَ عَسٰى رَبِّىۡۤ اَنۡ يَّهۡدِيَنِىۡ سَوَآءَ السَّبِيۡلِ(القصص :22)

وَلَمَّا
And when
تَوَجَّهَ
he turned his face
تِلْقَآءَ
towards
مَدْيَنَ
Madyan
قَالَ
he said
عَسَىٰ
"Perhaps
رَبِّىٓ
my Lord
أَن
[that]
يَهْدِيَنِى
will guide me
سَوَآءَ
(to the) sound
ٱلسَّبِيلِ
way"

Walamma tawajjaha tilqaa madyana qala 'asa rabbee an yahdiyanee sawaa alssabeeli

Sahih International:

And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 23

وَلَـمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدۡيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيۡهِ اُمَّةً مِّنَ النَّاسِ يَسۡقُوۡنَ وَوَجَدَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهِمُ امۡرَاَتَيۡنِ تَذُوۡدٰنِ‌ ۚ قَالَ مَا خَطۡبُكُمَا‌ ؕ قَالَـتَا لَا نَسۡقِىۡ حَتّٰى يُصۡدِرَ الرِّعَآءُ‌ۖ وَاَبُوۡنَا شَيۡخٌ كَبِيۡرٌ(القصص :23)

وَلَمَّا
And when
وَرَدَ
he came
مَآءَ
(to the) water
مَدْيَنَ
(of) Madyan
وَجَدَ
he found
عَلَيْهِ
on it
أُمَّةً
a group
مِّنَ
of
ٱلنَّاسِ
men
يَسْقُونَ
watering
وَوَجَدَ
and he found
مِن
besides them
دُونِهِمُ
besides them
ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ
two women
تَذُودَانِۖ
keeping back
قَالَ
He said
مَا
"What
خَطْبُكُمَاۖ
(is the) matter with both of you?"
قَالَتَا
They said
لَا
"We cannot water
نَسْقِى
"We cannot water
حَتَّىٰ
until
يُصْدِرَ
take away
ٱلرِّعَآءُۖ
the shepherds
وَأَبُونَا
and our father
شَيْخٌ
(is) a very old man"
كَبِيرٌ
(is) a very old man"

Walamma warada maa madyana wajada 'alayhi ommatan mina alnnasi yasqoona wawajada min doonihimu imraatayni tathoodani qala ma khatbukuma qalata la nasqee hatta yusdira alrri'ao waaboona shaykhun kabeerun

Sahih International:

And when he came to the well of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women driving back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 24

فَسَقٰى لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلّٰٓى اِلَى الظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّىۡ لِمَاۤ اَنۡزَلۡتَ اِلَىَّ مِنۡ خَيۡرٍ فَقِيۡرٌ(القصص :24)

فَسَقَىٰ
So he watered
لَهُمَا
for them
ثُمَّ
Then
تَوَلَّىٰٓ
he turned back
إِلَى
to
ٱلظِّلِّ
the shade
فَقَالَ
and said
رَبِّ
"My Lord!
إِنِّى
Indeed I am
لِمَآ
of whatever
أَنزَلْتَ
You send
إِلَىَّ
to me
مِنْ
of
خَيْرٍ
good
فَقِيرٌ
(in) need"

Fasaqa lahuma thumma tawalla ila alththilli faqala rabbi innee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeerun

Sahih International:

So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 25

فَجَآءَتۡهُ اِحۡدٰٮہُمَا تَمۡشِىۡ عَلَى اسۡتِحۡيَآءٍ قَالَتۡ اِنَّ اَبِىۡ يَدۡعُوۡكَ لِيَجۡزِيَكَ اَجۡرَ مَا سَقَيۡتَ لَـنَا‌ ؕ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهٗ وَقَصَّ عَلَيۡهِ الۡقَصَصَ ۙ قَالَ لَا تَخَفۡ‌ ۖ نَجَوۡتَ مِنَ الۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَ‏(القصص :25)

فَجَآءَتْهُ
Then came to him
إِحْدَىٰهُمَا
one of the two women
تَمْشِى
walking
عَلَى
with
ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍ
shyness
قَالَتْ
She said
إِنَّ
"Indeed
أَبِى
my father
يَدْعُوكَ
calls you
لِيَجْزِيَكَ
that he may reward you
أَجْرَ
(the) reward
مَا
(for) what
سَقَيْتَ
you watered
لَنَاۚ
for us"
فَلَمَّا
So when
جَآءَهُۥ
he came to him
وَقَصَّ
and narrated
عَلَيْهِ
to him
ٱلْقَصَصَ
the story
قَالَ
he said
لَا
"(Do) not
تَخَفْۖ
fear
نَجَوْتَ
You have escaped
مِنَ
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ
the people -
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers"

Fajaathu ihdahuma tamshee 'ala istihyain qalat inna abee yad'ooka liyajziyaka ajra ma saqayta lana falamma jaahu waqassa 'alayhi alqasasa qala la takhaf najawta mina alqawmi alththalimeena

Sahih International:

Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 26

قَالَتۡ اِحۡدٰٮہُمَا يٰۤاَبَتِ اسْتَاْجِرۡهُ‌ ۖ اِنَّ خَيۡرَ مَنِ اسۡتَـاْجَرۡتَ الۡقَوِىُّ الۡاَمِيۡنُ‏(القصص :26)

قَالَتْ
Said
إِحْدَىٰهُمَا
one of them
يَٰٓأَبَتِ
"O my father!
ٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُۖ
Hire him
إِنَّ
Indeed
خَيْرَ
(the) best
مَنِ
whom
ٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَ
you (can) hire
ٱلْقَوِىُّ
(is) the strong
ٱلْأَمِينُ
the trustworthy"

Qalat ihdahuma ya abati istajirhu inna khayra mani istajarta alqawiyyu alameenu

Sahih International:

One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 27

قَالَ اِنِّىۡۤ اُرِيۡدُ اَنۡ اُنۡكِحَكَ اِحۡدَى ابۡنَتَىَّ هٰتَيۡنِ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ تَاۡجُرَنِىۡ ثَمٰنِىَ حِجَجٍ‌ۚ فَاِنۡ اَتۡمَمۡتَ عَشۡرًا فَمِنۡ عِنۡدِكَ‌ۚ وَمَاۤ اُرِيۡدُ اَنۡ اَشُقَّ عَلَيۡكَ‌ؕ سَتَجِدُنِىۡۤ اِنۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِيۡنَ(القصص :27)

قَالَ
He said
إِنِّىٓ
"Indeed, I
أُرِيدُ
[I] wish
أَنْ
to
أُنكِحَكَ
marry you to
إِحْدَى
one
ٱبْنَتَىَّ
(of) my daughters
هَٰتَيْنِ
(of) these two
عَلَىٰٓ
on
أَن
that
تَأْجُرَنِى
you serve me
ثَمَٰنِىَ
(for) eight
حِجَجٍۖ
years
فَإِنْ
but if
أَتْمَمْتَ
you complete
عَشْرًا
ten
فَمِنْ
then from
عِندِكَۖ
you
وَمَآ
And not
أُرِيدُ
I wish
أَنْ
to
أَشُقَّ
make it difficult
عَلَيْكَۚ
for you
سَتَجِدُنِىٓ
You will find me
إِن
if
شَآءَ
Allah wills
ٱللَّهُ
Allah wills
مِنَ
of
ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
the righteous"

Qala innee oreedu an onkihaka ihda ibnatayya hatayni 'ala an tajuranee thamaniya hijajin fain atmamta 'ashran famin 'indika wama oreedu an ashuqqa 'alayka satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssaliheena

Sahih International:

He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allah wills, from among the righteous."

Surah [28] Al-Qasas : 28

قَالَ ذٰ لِكَ بَيۡنِىۡ وَبَيۡنَكَ‌ ؕ اَيَّمَا الۡاَجَلَيۡنِ قَضَيۡتُ فَلَا عُدۡوَانَ عَلَـىَّ‌ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى مَا نَقُوۡلُ وَكِيۡلٌ(القصص :28)

قَالَ
He said
ذَٰلِكَ
"That
بَيْنِى
(is) between me
وَبَيْنَكَۖ
and between you
أَيَّمَا
Whichever
ٱلْأَجَلَيْنِ
(of) the two terms
قَضَيْتُ
I complete
فَلَا
then no
عُدْوَٰنَ
injustice
عَلَىَّۖ
to me
وَٱللَّهُ
and Allah
عَلَىٰ
over
مَا
what
نَقُولُ
we say
وَكِيلٌ
(is) a Witness"

Qala thalika baynee wabaynaka ayyama alajalayni qadaytu fala 'udwana 'alayya waAllahu 'ala ma naqoolu wakeelun

Sahih International:

[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allah, over what we say, is Witness."
